INSIDE ARNE SLOT'S UNVEILING | Transfers, formation, Trent and more
A month on from confirmation of his appointment, Arne Slot held his first press conference as Liverpool manager.
And Reds reporter David Lynch was there to see what the Dutchman had to say to the assembled media.
Slot discussed transfers, his preferred formation, and the best positions for Cody Gakpo and Trent Alexander-Arnold among other topics during his time at the top table.
He was also joined by the club's new sporting director, Richard Hughes, who gave his views on how the summer might play out.

Oh David...I've been eagerly awaiting your take on Arne's first presser!I enjoyed them both very much.👏👏👏Yes...I'm glad that what comes across is that Arne loves to win.We are all in agreement with that then.I thought he gave the right mood to the conference...& it was on a more serious note.I think in later days we will experience his humorous side too.For me it was a perfect interview,I liked the fact that Richard sat in on it too & gave a good balanced input to the content.I'm well happy with the whole thing.Can't wait for our season to get cracking!Thanks again David,as always doing a great job for us all.👍 YNWA.❤️🔴Bless ya.!

Your question and Chris Pajaks question were the only ones that really found out any new information because most people ask questions that he was never gonna go into detail in they asked questions like “ wasn’t Klopp great ? “

Thanks mate. Agree that Chris’ question was a good one, too. I know the manager joked about it but it’s interesting that so many have written about him being a 4-2-3-1 manager and he fundamentally disagrees with that classification. Very interested to see his team setup in person now.

They came across quietly confident. No ones as charismatic as Klopp and that’s ok but he still communicates better than Arteta or Ten Haag. Did everyone put an arm round Pajak? Good question in fairness

Thanks David. I hear in your voice the excitement I have about the dawn of a new era. I am impressed how Mr Slot is not intimidated (or it seems) following Mr. Klopp. Hey, we have the staff we prefer with Mr. Edwards running the Ops, and a coaching staff with fresh perspectives on players in the existing squad. Def good to have a sporting director there at the presser. Shows support for the manager especially when he's from abroad and unfamiliar with British press. Also helps to deal with any dodgy questions from less reputable journos/publications.

Interesting Hughes saying quiet July, to allow Slot to work with players and then maybe some transfer activity in late Aug. Makes sense for Slot to see what he's got player wise before making any decisions on transfers.

Do you think the 2 coaches maybe working for international sides currently. There was a rumour that Anthony Barry would become set pieces coach. Also, I may have got this wrong but it sounded like we may not be active in the market until Arnr has had a good look at the squad. Logically that makes sense but with the Euros and then breaks for our players after they exit, he won't get a good look at most of them until early August. Seems a huge risk to wait until mid August to be heading into the market, don't you think? sounded like we may not be active until

Interesting to hear you talk about how often hughes will speak because i think he should make a few appearances over the season. Can't label a guy just a head coach and then make him answer every transfer and contract question. Think it makes sense for transfers to wait until august so Slot can fully see the squad. I really hope we get a couple contracts done in July though.

The most concerning statement was made by Hughes when he said we need to be 'opportunists" in the transfer market. Personally I don't believe they have a plan for this transfer window with all the ins and outs at the club.

Underwhelmed TBH feels like an FSG penny pinching appointment. Can’t believe we were never serious about Wieffer, quality CDM which we all know we needed. Hughes needs to be on point, big step up for both!
