I went here while I was going to high school in Japan. They get a lot of their business from High School field trips. The tables were set up in rows and the food was set up as a buffet instead. They also had little classes for candle making I believe. I remember seeing hundreds of students running around in the capes, it was just like Harry Potter. I recommend visiting this place. Funny seeing this place again after 6 year :) Thanks!

I worked at British Hills for 8 months back in 2017 as both a Receptionist and Tour Guide in the Manor House (Castle), and also in Ye Old Gift Shoppe! It was honestly one of the best jobs I have ever had! Got a chance to meet so many amazing people, and all the management were so lovely to me. Genuinely, if anyone is looking to do a Working Holiday in Japan, and are from the Commonwealth, then British Hills is the place to go! There is a shuttle bus from the hotel that staff can use to get to the nearest down of Shin-Shirakawa, which has a Shinkansen Station that is only 1 hours ride to Tokyo, or Sendai. So getting away for a couple of days to explore Japan is very easy! Honestly, wish I could go back!

I went there with my girlfriend a couple months ago and agree that it had a very surreal feeling to it. Honestly I'm pleasantly surprised with the quality of the Japanese English Hotel. They nailed the vibe of the old country Manor homes that you might find in the countryside. I guess just like how the old fashioned Japanese hotels are now a gimmick this is sort of the equivalent. Nobody in the UK would go out of the way to stay somewhere like this but they do exist and you can visit them if you want to.

Don't mind me asking these questions. 1) Do you consider Japan as a highly developed and advanced country ? 2) How would you personally rate Japan (from culture to technology, architecture, food, local products, scenery/landscape, standard of living/quality of life, etc.) on a scale level of 1 to 10 ? 3) What is your overall impression with the Japanese people ? 4) If you have 3 words or more to describe Japan, what would it be ?

I've seen pictures of that place, it's Eerie, knowing that it's in Hokkaido... because it's scarily accurate. Well except for the fact that the Trees aren't the same, different Evergreens and the lack of Autumn Forests, and actual birch trees, no blood beeches... Oh and the least accurate part is that the place looks like it's alive... Unlike Sweden, which looks dead all the time, even during late spring because not even the nature here enjoys being here.

Ok, my fist impression was that the "castle" was a bit of a letdown compared to the rest because, from the outside, it looked a bit like a cheap facade thrown onto otherwise normal building, like you'd see at an amusement park. But when they returned for dinner, and we saw the inside HOLY SHIT! I take it all back as they clearly sunk an obscene amount of effort into that building. In fact, if we judge a place by the effort someone put into it, then that place is an easy 11/10 for me.
