Exclusive interview with Stephan Meunier, Naval Group's Operational Marketing Director and former Rubis-class SSN commander in the French Navy, on the Barracuda type SSN's Combat Information Center (CIC).

The future Barracuda type SSNs (Suffren-class) of the French Navy is fitted with a Smart Ops Room (or CIC) with excellent ergonomics. It features 10 multi function consoles for combat operations as well as a smart tactile table for cooperative mission planning and navigation.
The Suffren’s Combat Management System is the SYCOBS, for Système de Combat Commun Barracuda et SNLE (Joint Combat System for Barracuda and SSBN). First seen on the Terrible, the SYCOBS was later introduced on the remaining Triomphant-class ships during their retrofit. Using a similar CMS reduces the risks during the Barracuda development and facilitates transfer of crew members between SSN and SSBN.

Great vid on inside of Barracuda SSN far cry from Oberons Class, as I have visited HMAS Onslow in Sydney n it’s mess room, shower were tiny, at 5.4ft tall you wouldn’t want be any taller. Although captain was over 6.4ft n had hole cut out so he could stretch his legs out.

Except none of it was relevant and it didn't stop the indians to want more. We also know who was behind this data breach, namely a foreign contender to the french industry. Nice try though. The same kind of tactics surely worked in Australia, but not in favor of that contender either.

.....good effort at speaking proper English but the accent and other subtleties suggest that he hasn't had much real experience talking real English with anglophones .

@@admiralspire8867 Naval News n'est pas anglais. Xavier n'est pas anglais non plus. Il a fait le choix de s'exprimer en anglais en tant que journaliste pour son contenu à vocation internationale. Or le niveau en langue anglaise est souvent assez pauvre chez les personnels techniques des industriels français qui ont autre chose à faire et n'ont pas été recrutés pour cela. Certes c'est dommageable.

Quel anglais épouvantable! Deux Français parlant "anglais" , c'est pathétique et ridicule. Pourquoi ne parlent-ils pas français avec un doublage en anglais?

....yes, it's actually difficult to understand what he's saying in English . Slowing it to .75x might improve intelligibility but I'm not interested now for this video .

C'est la tendance actuelle dans toutes les entreprises. On oblige des francophones à dialoguer dans un anglais de facto dégradé... qui véhicule donc des idées, des concepts dégradés vs une communication en langue maternelle. Dans ma boîte un gros projet de migration s'est déroulé en anglais alors même que 99% des intervenants étaient Francophones. La justification etait qu'un jour cela sera deplayé à l'export (Amérique du Sud, Asie...) Du coup bon courage car les sud-américain auront a se débattre avec Anglais très francisé dans sa structure, truffé de faux amis, avec des concepts peu détaillés par manque de champ lexical adéquat. Il aurait mieux valu payer un cabinet de traduction pour traduire la doc dans les différentes langues locales.

une honte ces français qui parlent anglais à des experts ou journalistes étrangers que ce soit ici ou lors de salons d'armement,de cette façon,vous pouvez pas les obliger à suivre 6 mois de cours intensifs ?

tout le monde est pas doué en anglais c'est comme ça , c'est déja bien qu'il parle en anglais. le jour ou les anglais parleront français on en reparlera

Son anglais était parfait. Son accent était fort, et alors? C'est compréhensif, il faut juste ètre un abrutis de perfectioniste pour avoir une telle réaction a un accent.

@ commentaire imbécile de quelqu'un qui ne parle pas anglais... Rien à voir avec Wall Street il s'agit de parler correctement la langue internationale de référence. Il y a un minimum à respecter.

@@frederic.marquis7361 Je parle anglais sinon (j'ai Evolution of Nuclear Strategy de Lawrence Friedman en ce moment en livre de chevet), mais l'école navale ca n'est pas une école de langue, y'a beaucoup de choses importantes qui y sont enseignées, avec la langue, et l'accent doit pas être prioritaire apparemment

@ j'ai vu ta chaîne juste après avoir répondu. L'anglais parlé demande de l'entraînement et une bonne audition. Une langue peut être pratiquée à l'écrit et en lisant mais ça ne présage pas d'une maîtrise à l'oral... ici le marin a une diction horrible !! La Navale n'est pas une école de langues certes mais une bonne diction apporte du sérieux dans une conversation... Désolé de m'être emporté. Plus jeune je pestais déjà devant PPDA et son accent " pas terrible ". Good evening !! 😉 Friedman's book seems quite interesting. I had never heard about this expert in nuclear weapons. Thanks for quoting. 👍

@@frederic.marquis7361 Le marin parle distinctement et un anglais peut le comprendre parfaitement. Arrète avec ton perfectionisme a la con, presque tous les anglophones dont la langue maternelle n'est PAS l'anglais gardent un accent. C Chinois, Indiens, Arabes, Francais.. TOUS.
