Inside The FBI's Files On John Lennon

John Lennon is one of the most famous and beloved figures of the 20th century. Even more than his Beatles compatriots Ringo Starr, George Harrison, and Paul McCartney, Lennon embraced his role as a world figure and tried to use it to make a difference. Alongside his wife Yoko Ono, Lennon pushed for peace and togetherness.
But that made him a target of the U.S. government under President Richard Nixon, who had FBI director J. Edgar Hoover wage a campaign of harassment and fear to try and undermine Lennon's influence and political effectiveness. All the weird and shameful details hide inside the FBI's files on John Lennon.

I have copies of the several FBI files on John Lennon and the files on the other members of the Beatles. The U.S. government really was afraid of Lennon's influence and pacifist ideology spreading throughout much of America. The files are an interesting read. About a decade ago, a full length movie went into the contents of some parts of the formerly Secret FBI files.

@@robiandolo The released FBI files on John Lennon and others are available online. The FBI website has an FOIA section. That is a good place to start by using keywords, live "John Lennon", "Yoko Ono", and "Beatles". Remember, there are usually a plurality of files under each keyword . Nixon seemed fearful of Lennon's activist position on pacifism because it could derail the peace negotiations in Paris with North Vietnam. It was a complicated mess and Nixon seemed increasingly paranoid, especially prior to and during the Watergate scandal.

All this stuff about Lennon being a wife beater. A radical. How many people go through phases in their life? Bad or worse then change their lives or beliefs for the better? Because life is a learning process. I think John Lennon was in a good place when he died. He had opened up communications with his eldest son, Julian, loved his adopted city and home, semi retired to domestic life, then went back to music and produced some great songs. I think he learned alot of lessons in his life and left this world a better place. His fans and music are proof of that.

Please read this. Hoover had a THING about John Lennon, but Hoover died in 1972. Other people at the CIA and FBI also had a thing about Lennon. At the time, it was stated that Mark David Chapman, told police that The Catcher in The Rye told him to shoot John Lennon. In 1980, I was 21 years old, and my grandmother had a SIGNED copy of J.D. Salinger's "Catcher in The Rye". Mr. Salinger was a long time friend of my CIA family. He was the founder of CIC (Counter Intelligence Corp) recruited by my grandfather William S. Paley, Google and read about both men. As I later found out, this book and others Salinger wrote had MESSAGES in the print (microdots that you can't see) to tell other operatives to kill. These are true words I speak, even though the CIA rectorus holes don't like it, come an get me.....Lennon's widow may know this, but would never speak it PUBLICLY, but I will. Bothe Paley and Salinger put their BACK UP RECORDS in microdots in their books...there I have said my peace...

Weakest musician? Lol okay guy. John was all over the place and complicated. He had a revolutionary phase but towards the late 70s he shrugged it off as a phase when he was young, like many 60s kids. Believe it or not he liked Reagan and met him once in ‘75.

Weakest musician? Your perspective is screwed. Lennon/McCartney are song writing legends! All four of The Beatles are legends for what they accomplished in music around the world.
