00 - Nest formation
19 - Egg laying
39 - Incubation period
20 - Eggs hatch
04 - Chick growth
32 - Fledging
The journey took place in Kentucky, USA, during the 2023 breeding season. On 17th April, the mother Bluebird inspected the site and started to build her nest. She used a mixture of fine-dried grass and twigs to sculpt a cup-like shape to hold the eggs. On 21st April, she laid her first egg, and another three arrived the following three days. Once egg laying was complete, the incubation period lasted fourteen days. On 8th May, all four eggs hatched, and it took sixteen days for the chicks to take on a substantial amount of food and grow to a stage where they were ready to fledge. The chicks finally left the nest on 24th May.
