The mom of a Louisiana bride is finding herself at the center of a social media firestorm. People online are saying Lori Dewitt upstaged her daughter at her child's wedding. Chloe LeBlanc, who recorded the video, says the bride was with her mother when they went dress shopping and she approved the dress. "I definitely think there were a lot of people who were a tad bit jealous of how gorgeous she was," LeBlanc says.

I disagree. Some people don't wear white dresses for weddings, especially if it's not their first wedding or if it's not a traditional wedding. The mother dress still looks like a wedding dress, especially with that train on the dress.

As an Asian, I agree. I find it mind boggling how in the US, it would be an unforgivable sin if another woman wears white on someone else's wedding. Coz here in Asia, or maybe just in my part of Asia, Philippines, it is automatic that the center of attention is the bride, it's impossible to upstage the bride and groom. I've seen some weddings where the mothers of both the bride and groom sometimes were wearing whites and it's no big deal. I would link a video, but youtube doesn't like it when you share links on your posts.

An acquaintance known for her selfishness, even as a mom she lost custody over her selfish behavior. At her oldest daughter’s wedding she convinced her daughter to have an all white wedding, including white dresses for the female guests. Mom showed up in a literal white wedding gown with a train for her mother of the bride outfit and wore a terraria. It was far more elaborate than the gown she knew her daughter was wearing.

So many times we’ve heard stories about moms trying to compete with/outshine their daughters on their wedding day, the one time this young lady wanted to show how beautiful her mom looked every was ready to drag the poor mom. It’s less about jealousy & more like projecting-I’m sure there was a number of wives whose moms/MILs who upstaged their weddings in those comments.
