When we're talking about men's patterns, bear in mind some of us are non-binary and looking to these pieces as the few options for sewing something that isn't femininely styled. So I appreciate hearing about menswear trends you're seeing, because I do love an on trend moment! A toweling camp shirt sounds like fun!

I love denim too! Half... some what over half of my closet is denim! Dresses, tops, jackets, jumpers, shirts, shoes, bags, belts, scarfs... you name it! 😂

Quilting cotton has many prints that naturally coordinate with each other for M8515.

A couple of the indie companies use clear elastic, not stretched, at the waist on the bodice to support the bodice and stop the stretch lines, so that might work on that knit jumpsuit

I work in a corporate office so the blue long sleeve jacket in linen would totally be appropriate to make in the summer.

The waist that comes to a point is called a Basque (pronounced bask) waist. My 1993 wedding dress had it.

I am still learning about those neck bands. I usually end up with a plucker in the back. I have the strawberry fabric, I am currently sewing the the Love Notion Luna loungewear set.

Aaaah! Kaftans! I’m living for it- wanted to make one using guipure lace but it’s just so stiff, absolutely no drape. I looked like a statue. Maybe I’ll try cotton eyelet lace. I love the way the fabric is cut and placed in the sample! Also I have no chest so a deep V is always a go for me. 😂

hiya hun humm I don’t mind the little misses jumpsuit & romper but I hate the wide leg trousers that are in fashion now (I wore them in the 70’s 😂 showing my age now 🤣) but I do really love the romper but I’d have to add side seam pockets 😁 can’t do without me pocket’s lol, totally agree with ya about the caftan pockets 😁, I love the Laura Ashley Dress & Top 🥰, I think the Shirt Dress would of been better if it had a belt or just add a belt 😁, & love ❤️ the vintage 1980’s jumpsuit romper dress I remember wearing them in the early 80’s lol 😂 great video thanks for sharing with us xx

I love the wide leg pants. I think they’re so cute. The thing that traumatized me in the 70s was ugly polyester pull on pants with the stitched down crease in the front. That stitched down crease seems to be back in these days by the way. Just don’t put it on low quality polyester, please!!!

I believe the metal tips on the drawstring cord are called aglets. I really like the fitted woven jumpsuit but of course it doesn't come in my size so we'll see if I'm up for grading.

I think you’re right because it’s either that or cord ends and they are often called stoppers.

Honestly, I don’t think that Laura Ashley dress is what everybody’s been waiting for from Laura Ashley, however it’s very cute and I like it. Not because it reminds me of Laura Ashley, but because it has the big pocket in front. I love a big patch style pocket. I do think that the print and the long maxi are very different looks and they don’t even look related like they don’t connect in anyone’s brain but I think they’re both very cute for what they are so long as you weren’t expecting the print to be elegant or the white to be homey casual. I think they’re all very individually different even though they have the same basic shape there’s a lot of possibility and one simple pattern. I like that western shirt dress . it would be easy to make it longer and it looks comfortable and not everything needs to be somehow suffer. Sometimes we just need simple things, in fact,most of the time we just need simple things. It could be made with all different different kinds of fabric into all different different kinds of dresses. I like it and I want to make it.

M8510 These were all the rage when I was in college in 1974. They were done in fall colors or blacks. You wore Bo ho jewelry and a peasant top or a knit tank. I loved it and wanted one but was broke as a joke They were swirl skirts. Surprised to see all the color blocking. I liked most of this collection. Are peplums making a comeback? I wore the knit version with leggings in the 1980’s and matching pumps
@InsidetheHem

Yes! Peplums are back! I'm indifferent toward them I think. I'd rather just make a dress.

Well, it depends on how much work you want to do to support them without a bra band. :) Which, if I were you, would be a hard no, too! LOL!

It’s so weird to me how with some of these (like the first and second) the design lines look nice, but the fabric choices make it look very homemade, like homemade in the early 1980s. Do they have to use a certain brand of wholesale fabric or something?
@InsidetheHem
@InsidetheHem Ай бұрын
Yah, IDK. Would be nice to know why sometimes the fabric choices are so bizarre.

Could you make 8499 in denim?
@InsidetheHem

Absolutely! It would just stand away from your body a little more than lighter-weight fabrics. Chambray would simulate the cottons that LA is known for!

The jumpsuit looks so heavy and for summer heavy = hot. It's cute, but I'd rather make a waistband and only use the bottom part for a cute pair of flared pants. The one thing I remember about jumpsuits, is when you need to use the restroom, you are practically naked which feels really awkward. Caftans are adorable, but it you're petite and a women's size, it looks frumpy.
@InsidetheHem
@InsidetheHem Ай бұрын
That's true. Caftans are not for everyone if you're concerned about flattery. But, can't argue with the comfort!

@InsidetheHem

Definition of 'huckery' 1. of unpleasant or unsightly appearance. 2. repulsive, objectionable, or displeasing in any way. Yikes! I didn't think they were *that* bad!

The waist line is the smallest part of your torso. It is where it is. Now, if you like to wear your waistbands lower, you do you. But, you can see the waists on the models because they curve in.
