Just saw it a few hours ago and of course had to see your reaction. When on the drive home every 2 minutes I am screaming "ALSO...." about another ridiculous thing, you know it's bad. Who decided to write in the line "tell me little brother". ?!?!?HUH And that art teacher was for real on the demon's payroll because HOW and WHY did she just happen to un-hypnotize him DAY ONE

There are so many things they could have done differently; -Draw the demon in chains or slain -Draw a new creature to fight it -Allow the demon to control Dalton's body when he's asleep or in the further -The teacher was in on it -The demon taints him so people he touches die -The starts drawing ways people will die -The more successful he is, the more powerful the demon gets

The heartbreaking thing about this film was that it had the potential to be great but squandered every opportunity. Some of the things I thought would happen was that Barbara Hershey would return in the further. Her death was ultimately pointless and only served to highlight how terrible it was to erase their memories including the time they spent with her. I also thought Josh would become possessed by his father who haunts him in his dreams and finally brings him into the further much like what happens with Dalton. It would have been a nice visual metaphor for Josh unable to let go of the memory of how his father treated him. When I saw Patrick Wilson's face emerge in Dalton's painting, I thought for sure we'd see him in the Further, perhaps in the future, since time in the Further is immaterial, coming to haunt his son. We could have had Dalton, his grandmother, and Elise battle for the soul of Josh, who eventually redeems himself. I don't know what they were going to do with the Demon quite honestly and still don't think they had any idea what to do with him. They could have made Josh's father an artist, and the Lipstick Demon could have been his creation, perhaps the father's attempt to work out his feelings of getting old or sick, or if they wanted to go deeper, make it some physical manifestation of some abusive character. Normally I'm not for overexplaining certain things, but when it's the fifth film in a franchise, you better be able to expand the lore otherwise people will wonder why it even exists.

"Insidious 3" is a BlumHouse Production with James Wan and Oren Pelli as producers. This is a triple threat of talent. That being said, my friends and I talked through the entire thing about how bad each new scene was (we were at the drive-in). I do hope Patrick Wilson is not thinking of taking the path of directing, because somebody better get him back on the highway. Not even going to mention the editing. That's a whole other throw-my hands-up of disbelief. I think the movie is not only terrible, it is Top 3 end of the year terrible.

Yeah this movie was missing a lot of what made Insidious, Insidious. I said this on another video but during the frat set pieces it was like "what are we doing here?" It just didn't feel like Insidious. And unfortunately they just wasted too much time bringing them back into the Further and it was all ultimately just a retread of stuff we already knew. I loved the first three movies, was meh on the fourth but this was just flat out disappointing for me.

I didn’t like the setting of the older son being in college. It made no sense that he was experiencing all of this spooky ish but never called (at least) his mom? THEN, once the mom finally came clean to the dad-I wanted them to run to the car & rush to his dorm. Them finding Dalton “asleep” & the dad helping him there would’ve been much better.

I think I saw a few of these Insidious movies, but my brain refused to commit them to memory. It seems like I've seen a few of The Conjuring films too, but I can't remember them either. I could be wrong, but it seems like the Insidious movies have some relationship with The Conjuring, but since I can never remember anything that happens in any of these godawful movies, I can't say for sure. In any case, I regard these films as annoying background noise that I try to tune out. A spoiler summary that that enables me to avoid watching such a film is a seriously valuable public service. Thank you for all you do.

Joseph pondering over the father son blur dynamics was by far the best - Because, it made the plot more dilute So, Who 'triggers' the fragile/broken mind with words and phrases that's supposed to bring out the best in them...Art teacher! Omgosh I liked this movie. I think it gave closure to the first original 2 films, which I also liked. I also appreciate that they kept all the original characters. I love the last painting Dalton did. I enjoyed it. I also liked his roomate, she was awesome. Love ya'll.

I had fun with this. It's not scary. There are jump scares, and I aways jump--even when I know it's coming. I feel like the vomiting ghost in the frat house was liberated (a euphemism for borrowed) from The Sixth Sense. The roommate was the best part, for sure. It was fine foe a really hot Texas day.

As someone who hasn't watched any of the films recently, I found it very confusing that the vomiting ghost couldn't hurt Dalton but other ghosts in the further could really hurt people like Chris in the real world.

It did feel a bit like a soft reboot. I enjoyed most of it and that puking ghost freaked me out but I'm a wuss. I could not figure out why Chris kept staying with him when everything was attacking 😱 She is a better friend than me 😅 Movies like these make me so glad I don't believe in ghosts 👻 Edit: I got curious about the Patrick Wilson song you were talking about and then I realized you're talkin about the song during the end credits and I'm not going to lie, I started walking out of the movie but the song made me stay 😜 It's .... Interesting. I'm not mad at it. Patrick Wilson has a good voice. I keep forgetting he can sing, even though I saw him in Phantom of the Opera however long ago. Gerard Butler on the other hand 😬 .... Bless his heart.

I found it a bit eerie how Dalton is starting to look like "The Fiend" ... At first I thought there may have been a connection -as in the Fiend is a version of him in the future .. just like Dalton was able to go back in time , like his Father .. .. but no, I'm pretty convinced Dalton is just portraying an angsty Art student with very few vessels of self expression other than through his Art .. and hair.

When I recall (back in the day)the edge of my seat - feeling a sense of terror from beginning to end with the Ist Insidious as compared to this one? Zero comparison. I fell asleep less than half way through. Dear Patrick Wilson: Please do not EVAH direct or sing in any future movie. This had your corny arse signature written all over it. And yes, Nick....this felt more like a Father/Son drama than a Horror movie. Am quite upset that James Wan has taken a back seat to directing and become a Producer. Sir? There are many rich wrinkly arse old men in Hollywood who can fund a movie. Please get back to what you do best 😣

I found the roommate Chris to be extremely annoying. I also didn't think she was that attractive. She just looked like a regular girl. But I was glad that Dalton said he felt bad for her when Fratboy commented on her looks in a derogatory way. I guess if there is another Insidious movie, they will be a couple by then.

I’m so disappointed Fish Jelly didn’t like this movie…I saw the first one in the theater…had brought my two older boys to see Your Highness…no way I was gonna see that garbage-looking movie…only thing that looked interesting was some horror movie I had never heard of…so my youngest son and I saw Insidious…and LOVED IT…how often do you just stumble upon a fantastic original horror movie…so I will give this one a chance despite this review…I’m also fairly upset that Joseph isn’t considering the demon for his Worst Hair list…cuz that bitch looks crazy…

I’ve never really liked Insidious or Conjuring franchises. The first Conjuring was a blast! So good! Insidious had a great atmosphere but it (and part two) was painfully boring and poorly acted. I watched this last night and I really enjoyed it. Patrick Wilson is a WAYYY better director than James Wan 😂😂

Even the first Insidious I thought was a meh, mostly because I found the characters hugely dumbed-down. Never bothered with any of the sequels, and certainly won't bother with this one.
