Inspiron 15 5000 Memory Upgrade

I upgrade my Inspiron 15 5000 laptop to 16gb of memory for $30 in about 30 minutes. The hardest part was prying off the back cover! Here is the 8gb memory module I installed- amzn.to/32XhZgx And here is Inspiron 5591- bit.ly/dell5591

Thank you for posting this - it helped me out a lot. My underside was slightly different, but taking it apart was the same concept. I was able to use my fingernails and thumbs without having to use screwdrivers to pry. But seriously - thanks for taking the time to post this - I appreciate it. Officially upgraded to 16gb of RAM.

Great video, my old hp had nice little doors on the bottom closed with a single screw that gave access to the memory and hard drive for easy expansion, now we are using metal tools to pry plastic parts praying they don't snap! Progress

Thanks a lot for your demonstration. I gonna upgrade a memory as well a hard now. Nobody showed it but you that what it is the most important in process of disassembling parts is to disconnect the power from the battery. Also, I’d completely forgotten about that. 감사합니다. 어르신. Thanks I did it, I had hell of a ride with one screw that was stuck... Also, my slot 1 was actually empty and you have said 'Number one should be filled up and number two should be empty'

For your current system RAM specifications, open task manager -> performance tab -> memory. Here it will list all the RAM specifications of your system. The key factors when upgrading are: speed, form and slots available. Make sure you purchase identical speed and form of ram when upgrading. Make sure you have an available slot for your additional ram chip, or that your current RAM chip is not soldered in if replacing just the one. More information can be found in your system's proprietary service manual.

You can actually use a 2666mhz module instead of a factory 2400mhz.... just don't go over 32GB total, it actually works better and faster. 2666MHz RAM is a newer memory technology that runs on higher voltage and clock speeds, so its performance is about 20% faster than 2400MHz RAM.

Does anyone know if you can upgrade the new inspiron 5391 with the silver keyboard. Dell chat said it was only possible when its made at the factory, but i think they just don't want people rooting around in there.

I think I have the same laptop. It came with a 512G SSD, but I would like to increase that or add a second drive. Have you done that?

If you are unable to open with your fingers, its better to use a guitar pick rather than a screw driver which is gonna scratch the plastic casing

I AM Having a base variant Inspiron 14 5408 laptop/ I am Completely into video editing but its slow. so should i increase RAM/ should i put on a new graphic card. if i increase RAM to 16GB does all my video editing and programming work freely ?

Dell states that the max memory for this Laptop is only 8gb. Did you have any issues upgrading to 16gb?

I bought an addtional 4gb ddr3L ram for my laptop but after i installed it, my laptop won't boot up. I tried to remove the ram that i installed and it worked properly. What should i do?

If your laptop doesn’t start up when you installed the ram then it’s not compatible with your laptop. Try to get your money back with the ram you brought and buy a different one

@@averma32 Edit: I opened my wife's Dell Inspiron 15 with one of my old guitar picks very quickly and without damaging anything. Guitar picks FTW. Original comment: I cant tell you 100% on that model, but I have opened many tablets, phones and laptops of many brands with guitar picks.
