Install 12v LED Downlights & Remote Dimmer In Camper Van Headlining

In this short video I show how I install some 12v LED downblights in my Daihatsu Hijet camper conversion van (See links below for items used). I purchase 4x LED downlights but with NO junction box. I connect all the LED's together in a chock block, then feed a master cable from the chock block to a 12v remote control dimmer switch. The 12v led dimmer can be operated away from the vehicle too so you can turn the lights on in the van while returning to it. The install of the 12v downlights is very easy straight forward job to complete and can be done in less than 1 hour from start to finish.

Hi thanks for the video, that's really useful. Do you find now they are installed that these lights are bright enough for for general ambient lighting?

easily bright enough and when dimmed down later at night it helps a lot, there should be links in the description for it all, there are in my other led install videos

Complete novice at this stuff but I'm wanting to install spot lights in the back of my van. Only thing is my spot lights (4 of them) go to a connection box and from that has a wire that goes to the cigarette lighter. Would I be able to simply cut off the cigarette connection and wire that cable directly onto the existing with for the current light in the back? In theory I don't see a problem but I'm not a spark so... lol

Hi , Nice and very informative video! Would you mind to give me a little advice? I’m going to install 3 lights in my renault trafic van. Question is. The old lights has a 3 core cable and most of led lights has only red and black wire. How can I install 2 wire led into 3 wire circuit? Many thanks

3 core cable is for household 240v, 12v dc should only have 2 core cable so sounds like it has the wrong cable used

It's an A27 or MN27 if anybody wants to know. Used in garage door remotes. My lights are awesome thanks for the video.

Could I ask what size wire you use from the dimmer unit to the fuse box please 🙏

I used a reel of 11 amp rated wire for most things unless it needed thicker for higher draw appliances, you can get a reel quite cheaply

So are they just going to the fuse box plz really new at this I got converter split charger and solar panel but still trying to grasp all 🤪

They go to the dimmer which goes to the leisure battery fuse box

Thats just the camera out of sync with the light frequency, all lights flicker, the naked eye just doesn't notice

@@TheCampervanBuilder depends on the kind of the constant current led drivers. Quality ones are flicker free.

@@FRESNEL_COOKING_SOLAR_OVENS24 record any light with a high speed camera and you will see all lights flicker, its how they work, we just can't see it with our eyes. Either way, you cannot notice these lights flicker in person, only on camera
