@@SubaruONLY I have a question, hopefully you may be able to answer... I also have a 2013 Subaru Tribeca that had an interesting 'squeak' in turning the car over, sounded like a belt squeak, but i changed the serpentine belt + pulleys (idler and tensioner pulleys) in addition to the starter motor. This fixed the sound however it feels like its starting to make a comeback... Have you come across this issue before?

Yes, sounds like you’ve located the issues and the reason the squeak is coming back is the belt stretched a bit (super common, especially new serpentine belts). I bet if you check it, it’s a bit loose now and just needs to be a bit tighter, then the squeak should be gone once and for all. 👊

Thank you your vid inspired me to do this when my vc started leaking. Can you tell me if the fit is tight? The half moons dont seem to drop right in and ive cleaned the surface pretty well. They stick out about half a cm from the head and i cant seem to get it flush, not sure if i need to tap it in with a hammer

nice video. great idea about this billet half moons. good point on using very little RTV, if you use too much sealant you see it get stuck in the oil pick up... in any make/model and that is never good..... chance of destroying an engine bearing if its blocked

Luke great video man!! Does this problem exist on the ej207 as well? I went to a junkyard today 3 hours away and got a few goodies too the best being the original cover for the back seat im going to use to fix my factory front driver seat that has a worn spot i couldnt find the material anywhere super excited!!! Thanks. Yes, I do believe the 207 uses these little wedges too. Good idea for any EJ engine!!! And nice score at the junk yard - hey man - small world, cause I was at the junk yard today too, and about a three hour round trip drip to get there and back for me too. Sounds like you went twice that but we’re both living the dream man!!! 👊

Man, you read my mind. Literally working on designs this week. One for sure will be the GC with the cherry blossom tree behind, like my video logo. Any other cool ideas you can suggest? I’m open ideas... 🤙

Yea, don’t use the basic black stuff. Utra Grey or OEM stuff.

Are you gonna make a how to on how to replace the valve cover gaskets with engine in car? Im wondering on how to get the bolts torqued to spec with the frame rail so close. And I picked up some Permatex ultra black for when I do mine, is that a good sealant to use?

I use the ultra grey or Subaru OEM sealant only. I’ve heard the black stuff doesn’t have the right chemical mix, but I don’t know for sure. Yes, I am planning on doing a video on that too. Stay tuned!!!

What would the chemical mix be bad for? Im starting to question whether to use it as all the gaskets I bought were expensive oem ones and dont wanna mess up the first time. The reason I bought it is because it says it's a "maximum oil resistance gasket maker" and on the back of the packaging it says it's for Oil pans and Valve covers.

Great question! I think it’s just too expensive a step to add for something that might not be an issue till the engine has many many miles. I really do think it’s a better option though, for every Subaru Engine.
