Video shown how to make a hole using step drill onto plastic surface. Vernier caliper was used to measure the external diameter of the connector as well as the inner diameter drilled using the step drill.

Thanks. Ideally it is the case. Unfortunately the cable gland I bought is smaller than the standard size. I suspect one is the mm while the other is inches.

Very poor drilling technique. Drilling towards your hand will eventually come back to "bite you". Also when you are "trimming" ID of hole, use a round file. Makes it simple, fast and safe. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip.

yep... it bit me once. i was used to cheap used drill bits, then, one day, i was using a brand new 3/8 and had my hand as backing for the sheet metal. when the drill punched through it caught me off guard and gave me a cut with the shape of the flutes along 2 fingers (thankfully very superficial, but uncomfortable and inconvenient)

Hole was to big especially sinve you were using vernier calipers followed by a pair of scissors you borrowed from a museum. Also the dome gland has a rubber washer and not an 'O' ring. Then you forgot to first push the grommet in place. The grommet is the rubber ring that you referred to as a stopper.

Strange question, but I’m installing my own security camera setup. I want to get some small junction boxes like this to mount my cameras to. The reason being is that each camera has a pigtail to connect the Ethernet cord for power/network. Anyway, do you think it’s possible to mount my cameras to the lid of a PVC junction box like you see in this video?
@CTBLiew Жыл бұрын
Have you tested it out by now? It should work if the camera is not too heavy. However the PVC box can’t be placed outdoor with direct sunlight. The plastic turns white and will becomes brittle.
