I static timed it off camera -- simple hookup though - one wire to anything that's hot when the key is on and one wire to the stock coil hook-ups -- instructions for your bikes static timing may differ (these ignitions are still available for damn near any jap bike)

Thanks ! I am looking for everything you talked about . Right now I have the stock TEK coils and they have the laziest spark I ever seen !

My Harley Davidson Evo has the same sort of ignition and when i put it back together I wasn't sure which way the magnet was supposed to go and I said the same thing " Oh well if it ain't right I'll just have to turn it around " and I did have to but then it fired right up !

I might have missed it, but I think you forgot to mention that the magnet on the side of the Dyna rotor has to be pointing to the right when the 'R' side of the advance assembly is pointed up. Plus you have to spread the advance weights slightly to get the points cam off. And don't forget to oil the shaft before reassembling.

That's why my cutoff date on the ones I'm keeping is 1990... CDI boxes and Dynas are pretty reliable - but the simpler ones not the modern ones

yup - this was the 76 - I ended out keeping the 75. Things ride like a dream very little to go wrong with the trans (much less than a manual) and with very little tweaking it'll hang with most regular Honda 750's of it's day

So where does this wire up after you get it into place? does it go directly to the coils or does this go into the CDI?

I found this video just as I am wanting to take off my old set up on my KZ750LTD ! I have been having on going troubles with my stock shit for two years . What is you thoughts about coils ? I do not wont the High priced stuff that dose the same as something that is a little less . I do not wont to put junk on it either .

one to each coil and one to anything that's hot when the key is on -- Or in the case of the CB750: Just follow your stock points plate lead back to the back of your engine and just below the plastic frame side cover you will see 3 wires ... with the same color codes on the end of the wires

I try installing this on my Moto Guzzi V40 Targa. Not getting spark. The Dyno S does not need CDI right? Cheers
@dawino6260
@dawino6260 Жыл бұрын
@@303storm That is correct -- the Dyna S is a complete CDI in one puck and rotor so it needs no external box .. Haven't seen one for a goose in years though - thought they quit making them

There is one setting that was left out of all the installs on You tube. That is the space between the magnet on the rotor and the 'pickups' on the modules. If set too far out the corresponding cylinders will misfire. I set mine but forgot what the setting was, maybe forty two thousands?? can you confirm the range??

I usually gap em at 025 and call it good .. universally .. A lot of em there's no gap .. On these newer Dynas there's not really any adjustment -- they give you their puck with it - you replace the stock one .. I haven't had to adjust an 's' since the late 90's as far as I know ... Boyers i always have to adjust -- same with old Pamco .. some Dyna .. Dyna's usually made on the money already the past few years -- most of em there's no adjustment at all everything just pops right in clean ... Accel they always tell you by the pickup plate model right on the plate ...

Their ignitions are solid as can be - never had a lick of trouble from one - It's their coils that are junk

I have a 1975 kawasaki kz400s, would that dynatek ignition system work on my bike?
@dawino6260
@dawino6260 9 жыл бұрын
I believe they still make one for it - worst case scenario would be order in one with a single pickup and make your own ignition plate - but I believe they still make em for the KZ400 --- If it's not a daily driver Pamco definitely does but their units are horridly unreliable and seem overly averse to wet weather riding (my personal experience with em)

Yeah.. About the only descent coils TEK made were their single towers -- The rest of their product line has impressive voltages but no current (amperage) to back it up

Accel #140403's -- The only way to go... Most reliable performance coils around -- and a LOT hotter spark than those stock TEK's you've probably got now. Easier cold starting, better performance and good for 5 or 10mpg extra when you aint goosing on it. Dyna S ignition -- Much cheaper than the stock stuff and very rarely fail

The beauty of those old Japanese bikes is that if you maintain them decently, they will never let you down. All this electronic shit is going to fail sometimes somewhere with no chance of repairing it on the side of the road. If you want to keep a reliable bike, stick with those old-fashioned points.

Vorsteven. I agree. Had a condenser fail while I was near a HD shop, so I bought one that would fit and wouldn't you know; it worked perfectly on my '76 CB750k for another 5 years. Failed ignition modules are a different story
