Installing a Peterson plow light kit on my 1980 GMC K25 trailering special with a Western snow plow.

How did you take off the headlights? My bolt mount just keeps spinning and I can’t get the nut loose.

che vang take the front off, there should be 4 screws in there then the light bulb and lenses come out the front. Then you can access the bolt head. You may have to cut off the nut if it’s seized and just replace it.

Something isn't right. The circuit to the truck's headlights goes through the snow plow 6 way switch. This means that first you have to turn on the truck headlights with it's switch. Then you can decide which lights you want turned on, the truck's or the snow plow's. What happens when you remove the plow and the lights that go with it of course? My way of doing it. Install the plow lights completely independent. Furthermore use a relay just the same as the relay you installed for the snow plow pump and a fuse won't hurt anything either. And you are done. Far more effecient and no cutting or probing into any existing wires. I don't like the wiring set up of the folks that sell them plow lights. And the brake and turn signal is no big deal. They are are low amperage and you can tap into them wires without too much ado with that pinch connection you got. I am certain or at least it should be that the headlights on the truck have some sort of relay somewhere. At least it should be if the factory did it right.

It does run through the OEM switch like you say. If you don’t do it this way, it’s still a lot of goofing around. This way at least you minimize a bunch of extra wires running through the firewall as well as take advantage of the factory high/low beam switch and blinkers. I’d say this way is a lot cleaner but you probably spend a little more getting a kit.
