Finally got it up and running. The only delays we had was because we realized we needed some extra parts (I’ll list that below) kzfaq.infoUgkxihMYiJNXcHdbH-7ihymsLz61l7jVyb5O . So we have a loft where our current hvac just couldn’t seem to keep cool during the summer. We have been using a window unit since we bought this house over 6 years ago (all the houses in this neighborhood were built in the 80’s and majority of the houses built like ours use a window unit). I hate window units because they are just so noisy and the one we had really only cools one side of the loft. I had contemplated upgrading our current HVAC, but with all the rising prices these days, it would take years before saving up enough to do that. With the advice of my father-in-law (used to run an HVAC business), he recommended we get an inverter instead. We thought we bought everything we needed, but there were just a few other parts we didn’t anticipate needing (which is what caused most of our delay). My friend and father-in-law did all the work to get it installed and running and now we have nice cool air circulating nicely throughout the entire loft. It is very quiet and even the outside unit is much quieter than our main HVAC unit. Saved ourselves thousands getting this.

Robert you need to run A/C hose between the two units and get rid of the copper line. The vibration between the two units will crack the copper line or worst the coils in the units.

@@ratj4715 in all of his videos he is either driving or working on something that will benefit himself and family. He knows his finances and what he needs to do. As far as drivers being lucky to get home every couple of months that's on them if they work for a company that doesn't care about their drivers. As for myself I drove OTR for 40 years and when I wanted to go home I went. I never thought of myself being married to a truck or company. I very seldom stayed out more than two weeks especially when I was married. When I wasn't married I would stay out several months at a time. Never judge someone if you haven't walked a mile in their shoes.

Hey Robert , I just installed one myself on my KW, instead of using the copper lineset that comes with the unit I got a custom R410A rubber hoses made to handle the road vibration. Those copper ones will not last. Also, instead of using those screws to hold the inside unit docking plate I used 4 locking nuts and bolts . It looks nice though.

I've seen a few comments regarding the copper lines being coiled and how they're going to prevent the oil from returning to the compressor. NOPE! I've installed several of these mini-splits on homes and even the manufacturers recommend coiling the excess at or near the outdoor unit to save the factory flares which are considered far superior to most flares that an installer can make on site. That's why the line-sets come in fixed lengths with both ends having flares and fittings preinstalled. It's a misconception that oil is returned to the compressor by gravity. It is not. It is carried by the freon.

I always soap bubble the flare joints when checking for leaks. Also leaving copper coiled up may cause oil return problems. Eventually leading to failed compressor. I am wondering if the error code was caused because the valves at the condenser were not open. Compressor tried to run and caused some sort of voltage drop. Due initial current draw. (LRA) i do ac down in fl if anything i can help just ask.

Hey Richard nice install and that looks like finally for real going to keep your truck cool and warm, But you really need to take the wires out of the panel box you installed and use romex connectors to bring the wires into the enclosure because of the vibration. Your truck will go on fire when the wires short out. I have seen a truck go up in flames their really is no time to do any thing but get out.

Protect the insulation on your cooling lines as it does not stand up to the sun, rain and wind. Get some additional insulation like rubber insulation that you put on water pipes that you put over the insulation. The original insulation dies in a year or two. The unit itself, at least in my experience, is good.

Great idea, and a real nice neat install, but the cab is on rubber mounts and the headboard is not. The cab will be moving and may flex, bend and chafe the copper lines, especially where the hole is so high up. The higher up the hole, the more it's going to move. I hope you get the problem fixed whatever it is.
