Hey Andy - so I just ordered this same exact kit for my '65, and I noticed that the horn button has a single red wire with a female spade connector coming out of it and it's plugged into one of the male connectors on the back of the horn already. Then, the big aluminum mounting 'collar' has two red wires with female connectors coming off of it, but I only have two connectors on the back of the horn button. I'm confused - it feels like I have one extra red wire - the one coming out of the horn button itself? TIA for any help you can offer, as always!

@@banks412gmailcom Each red wire coming off the wheel hub needs to attach to the back of the horn button, but it doesn't matter which wire goes on either connector. However, based on what you said, it sounds like you only have one place for a red wire to connect to the horn button? Sorry Boss, I couldn't tell you because they do not provide that info, and I didn't measure mine. You might have to measure the distance from where the hub would be fully seated on the steering shaft, and the distance to the turn signal cancel mechanism, to see how much clearance you have and need. :)

This clicking is normal as the levers on the turn signal harness "click" as the go past the roll pins, but when you turn the wheel back the other direction they push on the harness arms and make the turn signal back to the default position. Mine does the same thing. On my last Mustang, I installed the same wheel but drove the pins too far in and they didn't work. Once you drive them in too far, they don't come out. :)

Yes, with a tilt column. Barely, with a stock fixed column. Those with an Auto tender to do better than those with a manual, because of the need to actuate the clutch with the other leg. Doing the tilt column conversion is on my list as I need the extra space. However, cars with power steering can get away with smaller steering wheels, which frees up some space for leg room.

Thanks! Yes, this wheel doesn't affect the turn signal mechanism, it's the wheel hub (the part that gets bolted to the steering shaft) that has to work with the turn signal mechanism. This does work with the stock turn signal. :)

@@scottbitterman1331 No issues with the horn, wiring, or the hub. I did have an issue with my turn signal wiring assembly where the horn contacts are located (not part of that steering wheel kit). One of the horn contacts was busted so I had to order a new turn signal wiring harness. Once I replaced that, everything was great. Again, all that wasn't related to the steering wheel assembly from CJP, it was a pre-existing condition with my car. If I had to do it all over again, I'd buy the same steering wheel. In fact, I did. I had this exact same steering wheel on my previous Mustang. 😄

@@AndyKruseChannel I had to figure out the horn connection which wasnt addressed on either your video or the one from cjpponyparts. once I did it all worked out but i did find out my steering shaft is bent and had to shim my ts switch so it would not blow the horn while turning the wheel. Thanks again

Sorry Boss, I'm not familiar with how Grant does the horn button and the contacts. Maybe sand a few millimeters off the tips so there's a touch more space? For the cancel pins, I have the same problem with my turn signal switch. I've learned to deal with it as they're new and will likely soften/wear over time and not be so loud. :)

That's a great question. On my first CJP wheel, I accidently pushed them in too far and they didn't trip the turn signals after turning the car. On my second wheel (the one in this video) I pressed them in until they were firmly seated and tested the hub on the steering column until they would trip the turn signal reset but not get snagged on anything. I wish they specified in the instructions, but I could not find that dimension. :)

Too tall for how the car is setup now. The seat does not move easily and the steering wheel does not tilt. Two things I plan to remedy, but until then it's uncomfortable.

@@drewschumann1 Owned a 67 390 GTA Fastback, a 68 GT Fastback and my daily driver is a 67 Coupe. ...so yes, I've seen Mustangs. Mustang wheels are 3 holers. That may be a Cobra wheel, but it's not in a Cobra.
