Hey guys, I finally got around to installing this thing. I gotta say I'm pretty impressed. I can't wait to see this thing in action long term. I'll be sure to do a review video at some point!
Here are some links to videos that I used to set up the system:

What type and size tubing did u use for the GHL dosing pump? I got a silicon type one but I’m no sure if it will be good? Can I use a 1/4 of Rodi tubing too?

Awesome setup. Only criticism would be $$$ spent on equipment and I don’t see any quarantine setup. Protect your livestock and be sure to quarantine everything for Long term success. Tank looks awesome!

fostee1 haha the $ amount is for sure there. Oh I do have a small QT, but I don’t keep it near my display.

How often are you going to be running the test? When looking at the UPS, what are you running on the non-ecotech units and how long do you expect it to last? Are you looking at using the profilux 4 power line monitoring at all? Thank you for your videos. Seems profilux 4 videos like this are not common.

Freaky Goblin I’ll be running tests 2 times a day. But maybe 4 if I find that there’s more valuable date to be gained from seeing the daily changes. I have two UPS and the only thing that’s plugged into backup power is circulation pump, air stone, and the actual GHL equipment. Everything else, lights and wave makers, protein skimmer. The idea of the UPS is more so not to damage any of the equipment during power outages. I’m ok with the lights being off. And currently I’m not using power monitoring, will definitely be getting into it at some point.

Noticed u were cutting the hoses to your desired length and also have the kh under the doser . The directions states the hose length it needs to be and says doser ontop or to the side? Good idea with the storage units.like that alot . Take it u have no kids though !

Mr Spoonz correct. I believe the recommendations are good guidelines. But if you think about it. The length of the waste water doesn’t matter correct? Since all it does is just clear water out. The reagent tube is always fully loaded so as long as you get it calibrated for those lengths it shouldn’t matter too much. And as for the water input, you can specify the lengths of tube in the App. With a good understanding of how the system works, I don’t think you have to follow the instructions exactly to a tee. However I would recommend doing so if you’re not super tech savvy. Also as for why I positioned it underneath, that’s just a personal preference. The dosing pump lines face down, so easier to wire it that way.

Just curious - Why are you running an airstone?
@HobbySci
@HobbySci 4 жыл бұрын
Blake Meadows I actually run an airstone constant now. I dose a lot of carbon and bacteria. My nutrients are basically 0 all the time. Per test kits that is. All my N and P is held in the bacteria. This can cause low oxygen hence the air stone. Yes my pH runs a bit low, but corals are tolerating it. Not sure how long I will be doing this, but it’s working for me at the moment.

Someone told me the airstone makes your coral stress out!
@HobbySci
@HobbySci 4 жыл бұрын
You certainly don’t need to add an airstone for a successful tank. My methods are def not usual. I dose heavy carbon regimens causing nutrients to be at 0 while feeding super heavy. All that causes my oxygen levels to be low. Normally the skimmer introduces plenty of oxygen, but mine is recirculating and scrubs CO2 out of the system, essentially introducing 0 new oxygen, hence the purpose of the airstone. Do I recommend this method to everyone? definitely not.

I see so many products and equipments wonderful but the main display tank looks a lot below standard and healthy corals than an average reefer without all this is fancy kits

I couldn’t agree more! I love equipment just as much as I do the livestock. I started this tank fully from frags, and run ULN so the growth is relatively slow. You should check out my most recent video, the tank has progressed nicely and corals are really starting to fill out the tank :)

@@HobbySci I shall check that out. I am starting with frags only was looking between Alkatronic which is ridiculously priced such and bad attitude from the makers Eric Tang and Jonas. So looked into KH director. Is something you would recommend

Sharif Shebi I think both kH director and Alkatronic are good. Yes they are not cheap, but these most reefing gear isn’t. The big question you want to ask yourself is what ecosystem do you want to join. If you end up getting a kH director, you could eventually add on a Profilux, or ion director for even more controllability. I personally LOVE the GHL brand. It has made my reefing experience much much better. If you are tech savvy, I recommend GHL 100%

Still am. Just got too busy with other things in life. Making videos ended up getting moved down the priority list. Reef is looking good and going strong though

Totally angry with KHD and GHL Support. Within 8 months, they tell me to send it in for repair for the THIRD time. I decommissioned that garbage! Don’t buy it!
