Installing a Back Up Camera in a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ)
This video demonstrates how I installed a back up camera in my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (WJ).
I used a Cheap Amazon camera that I have had for a few years. The Video Cables also came from Amazon. The video shows how I ran the cables and powered the camera and trigger, which panels that I needed to remove as well as some challenges along the way.

Thanks for the laugh. I find it funny when people cover the license plate that they show to thousands of people every time they drive. I never understood that. It's not like people can go to the DMV and find out your name and address with your license plate number.

Why didn’t you show how to take the hatch panel off ? You took the screws out then cut the video to it off. I can’t get it off I feel as if I will break all the clip things if I try is there a way not to break them or do you just have to break them and replace them all?

Thanks for watching. I did ground to the frame/body. The head unit I have does not play CD and navigation is via Apple Car Play.

Its just a standard in line splice. You can get these at the AutoZone.

great Video. Congrats. I also bought a rear camera to install on my Grand Cherokee, but the camera (erapta) has a mini 4 Pin plug. Do you know which cable do I have to buy to convert it into an RCA cable?

Thanks for watching. There should be 2 pins for power (red & black) and the other two for video. If you think you are skilled enough you can try to solder these to an RCA jack and see how the video works. The shielding may be an issue tho.

Where did you connect the ground wire?

Grounded to the body using a existing screw. I think I use the existing ground for one of the lights or wiper. Thanks for watching!

Black is a grounding wire.

Where have you plug the red wire of video cable at the monitor?

The red is a power lead. It goes to the back up lamp.

@@TheHappyLife-h7b I know but at the monitor I don't have place to plug it. But nothing happens when I put it in reverse. No change in the affichage of the radio. No image. The camera have power but no switch to rearview camera image. So I was thinking maybe it's the red wire. But it say that 90% of radio don't need it and turn rearview camera image automatically when camera is powered 🤷
