Well done! I have always remembered the Dzus fasteners from my AF time...they were used to secure system control boxes in the cockpit. Never knew how they worked, and looking at pics in catalogs didn't help. Now I know why there were always two "pop-rivets" next to each hole. Finally, a lifetime of nagging curiosity is satisfied!

Very helpful. I want to change the dzus fasteners on the cowling of my Cubby, so both are slotted. Whoever built it used ONE Phillips and One Slotted, which is just a nuisance checking the oil with the drain tool needing to switch from one to the other. Thanks N121WP

why pop rivet when there is lots of room to buck?? isn't there a collar to press fit the deus su it holds

Thank you. Where did you purchase the sheet metal dimpler tool that works with your vice grips? I see Pegasus sells a dimpler for the actual Dzus fastener but not the rivet. Thanks in advance!

I like your video on Dzus fasteners, but --all I can find is springs with 3/32 inch holes. Were do you get the springs with 1/8th inch mounting holes. Help, my airplane project needs these.

Hi, Thanks for posting. What about those retainers that normally get used instead of the snap ring ? Those retainers that appear at first like a canvas grommet and they get squeezed with a special tool or sockets? Regards from Alaska.

Not the way to do it. Make or by the dzus jig as this is way to slow. And you cant dimple fiberglass flush use flush mount rivits. See Tim McAmiss racing video
