Can't really get a smaller magnet the door closer is on its lowest power setting so it's not too bad door will hopefully eventually be replaced with something heavier

@@nics-systems-electric yeah be cool to see you put a fire door there.. maybe even a metal frame and some panic hardware? You did mention in another video that you plan to move downstairs.. where you thinking something like your own apartment down there since it has its own kitchen and such?

@@RossTheGenMan it would be hard to do a metal frame as these doors are hung right into the framework of the wall they are not a prehung door but you could install a heavier door I do now live in the basement yes

Thank you. The problem with using an output of the system is you are then increasing your battery demand. When there is no point of having a supervised output because it's a fail safe device so it doesn't make it any safer.

@@thinkIndependent2024 The breaker is a current limiting device with wire sized appropriately there isn't a problem. The problem with running it off your panel is one short circuit instead of tripping a resettable breaker can kill your whole entire fire alarm system depending what you power it off of.

That's a pretty rude comment to say that someone doesn't think before they speak when you have no way of knowing if I thought about something or not when of course I think to answer comments. there is no problem with this install it is done to code and the same as almost every other install and is completely safe.

Anchors are their own thing that widen when the screw is installed zip it self thread in to the wall and then don't get any wider once a fastener is installed

Yes it will. The door holder latches to the door via magnet. When you give it power it will latch on when there's no power it will not latch. So when there is a power outage the magnet will loose its power therefor letting go of the door.

Fixing what relay? As I demonstrated at the end of the video the door and HVAC shutdown works fine nothing wrong with it.

@@nics-systems-electric I know we don’t have smokes in classrooms they don’t have any strobes out side they have exit signs some black combos some led some white some gray and black the fire alarm system was installed 2004 the 2023 in spation says it has 9 more years it’s simplex it’s wonky

Yes I like the self drilling anchors personally I find they hold best but for a smoke alarm anything should be fine

@@bryansolis2251 if the door is halfway open it won't be held open in the first place and it will just shut

I think they sometimes need to be within not only a horizontal distance to the door but sometimes vertical as well

so that might explain than why the alarm was right over the doorway I think it was panic bar door but the celing still seemed 20 feet high so I guess the final answer is while that might be ok for commerical application in my home I should still follow the fire alarm code directions which state the lowest the top of the alarm can be is 12 inches from the ceiling does that yeah my local codes says the top of the alarm is to be 12 inches you are in a different country from me so I dont understand the difference but again I will say maybe this thing I say was right for a commerical property but your advice would be to follw the direction which came with my smoke alarm which will be based on the local code of the country is that correct thank you !

Houses are worth way too much here it would never be sold luckily as there is too much stuff to try and remove

Not airtight but still makes a huge difference same reason it said that it's a good idea to keep your bedroom doors closed at night even though those aren't airtight either

It's nothing to do with the duct detector specifically any alarm condition will shut it down unless it was to be programmed for specific devices. it resets as soon as the system is reset the relay module will go back to normal operation.
