Thanks a bunch. You’re video gave me the confidence to tackle the job myself. I’m a 50 year old woman and didn’t want to pay someone to do the installation. Your instructions made it so easy. Thank you so much for taking the time and posting this video.

Thanks for your step by step video on how to install bike hoist from start to finish including opening the package. I bought the same hoist and watched other videos but they only show the finish job which sucks. They didn't help at all. Yours include detailed measurement with calculation and simulation on how the bike will appear hoisted. You also show right additional parts to use like screws, wood size needed and all. Thanks again.

Excellent video, so complete. I bought my set a year ago, and due to the many reviews online, I've been reluctant to make the decisions on how to install it. I was going to use it for ebike, but the weight of such a bike, 70 lbs, would require more mechanical advantage than that hoist provides. Oh well, I have two analog bikes that have to be hoisted. Your video has given me the incentive. It seems you determined an optimal approach. Thanks!

Yeah 70lbs seems like you would want some more leverage to lift it up

Absolutely wonderful video showing how to install these. I bought them for a client of mine, and am unsure of the installation. Your wall cord holder was a genius idea! I've been thinking I needed another pully or some guide on the wall. I'm going to duplicate what you did. Thanks!!

Come here kid , stand under the bike, spin around once and see if it falls. My kits came with no instructions at all. Bought mine on ebay ! Just a tiny picture of the bike hanging. But i figured out the locking pulley thing by trial and error. Also, the screws they supplied are cheessy. One snapped off at the head. Luckily I backed it out with vice grips and used my own stronger exterior screws to finish the install. Love having the space now. Maybe more bikes will go up, we will see !

Yeah they make me nervous sometimes. No issues since I got them up. But I do think about making some kind of velcro strap to attach them better to the hooks to make sure they don't fall down

Really nice video, great instructions on taking measurements and the additional tips. I got mine at harbor freight and it was well priced, however the instructions sucked. The pictures they provided were horrible and your video was a life saver. In my garage, I had to mount the hoist along a single ceiling stud instead of across. So the 2x6 had to be mounted exactly in the middle of a single stud, which took a lot of time. Wish i had the orientation in garage that allowed mounting across the studs. I guess a 1x6 would work out well for this situation.

It looks like you used a 2x6" board to mount the hardware on and then mounted that to the ceiling. I was thinking about using a 1x6" board. Do you think that is sufficient or do you need the 2x6"?

@scorsnow7971

I used 2x6 and 3 inch #10 wood screw, but 1x6 would be better as the screw would bite well into the ceiling.

The instructions recommend 3.5” long 1/4” lag bolts with flat washers. The diagram shows just one bolt at either end of the flat board.

True or false?: if the bracket/plate is mounted too far in any direction, the front and back of the bike won't rise at the same time. I suppose that's the mechanics of pulleys, right?

Well 2" boards are not actually 2" but 1.5" also I countersunk a bit. so 1/2" to an 1" of screw is on the other side.

Can you hang it lengthwise along one stud?
@Whiteboardcoder
@Whiteboardcoder 4 жыл бұрын
I don't see why not. It's not like a bicycle is very heavy
@Anberel
@Anberel 2 жыл бұрын
The instructions include steps for mounting it along a stud, though it does recommend going across multiple studs for added strength. When mounting along one stud, the flat board is omitted and the black brackets are screwed directly to the stud with the included screws.
@MrBubbadon
@MrBubbadon 4 жыл бұрын
Also why not just screw in to the studs?
@ranger5705

You can screw it in the studs if your studs are parallel to the mount plates -much easier.
