I’ve always liked the marker lights on the fender myself but to each their own as they say. Guess if you want that clean look these LED lights are the way to go, and hopefully when buddy fills the holes in he fixes that little whammy on the lower portion of the passenger’s side front fender.

Nice job as always! For the turn signal to operate slowly you need resistors for leds as its low resistance is upsetting the flasher can.

Thanks man... its not hyperflashing though, just mildly faster than what I would consider stock. I never tested the flashers before installing these, there is a possibility its just a faster flasher. I believe these lights already have LEDs, as in my experience classic flashers refuse to flash LEDs at all... Flip the switch and they come on solid, there's just not enough current. You may remember the Volksrod that I did the LED taillights on last year, we had that problem there. Anyway, some resistors, an ADJUSTABLE solid state flasher, a trailer light adapter, ( with a couple diodes, because there was some wiring trickery required) and it was up and running!

Nice video. I installed the same headlights on the FightCRC raffle car. I like them enough that I bought a second set for use on something else... not sure what yet.. they do seem durable and really do light the road up well. It's essential they are aimed properly so as not to spotlight squirrels or blind squat truck drivers.. but then again they do it to us so.... but overall I have to say that I like them for a modern custom touch to a car, and when it comes to VW's it's all about expression!

I for one like your troubleshooting wiring videos. I’m really interested in watching the triple Es wiring. Most VWs I’ve seen is a rat’s nest. I’m Looking to watch you clean that up.

They look great. I actually like the blinkers on the fender. My 74 has the big blinkers. I kind of like stock equipment. Except for the motor upgrades. Good video Lord Duckman 🦆. Noel

I prefer the fenders smooth, the way that they were when the first VWs came about. I'm not too crazy about these headlights, however, but a lotof people ask me about them, so today we did a set!

Performed the same headlight upgrade in Dec. Connected DRL to switched 12v, so on when running, and Turn connected in parallel to fender signal. Works great. Thanks for vid 👍

Have them get a solid-state flasher relay. It will let the LED's flash at more of "regular" intervals.

Recommended! Absolutely! May have to change some wiring around to make them work, VW stuff is a little goofy with the way modern flashers are connected.

Would be nice if the corresponding headlight would cancel when the turn signal is activated. New cars have this feature.

Headlight no... halo yes. Headlight needs to stay on, halo can dip out... that is what a modern car does. 😁👍🦆💩 The computer I've built for my Beetle allows such things... it even can dip out a headlight if I wanted to, but its not the way it should work.

Thanks man! I dn't know what your taste is, so its a little tough for me to suggest a steering wheel. I have big hands, so I like a chunky thick ring, but I really like the appearance of a stock steering wheel. So I guess, google search some images and see what you like. Hi! Physically... yes, they will fit in your buckets, but only will work if you have already performed a 12v upgrade. Hope that helps!

I will have to look at my 68, the previous owner mounted the headlights to the rims and when I hit a rough road the headlight on one side falls out 😂

Duck man, I installed a reman generator from oreillys and an empi pulley and now my generator charges but it’s making some sort of grind noise I have 11 shims total to adjust the belt

There's several different places that it could be grinding, but that's an unusual question to ask on a headlight video. But make sure your pulley is not grinding on the generator itself, make sure your fan is not grinding on the shroud... yes there is a specific clearance you're supposed to measure out to space the fan out... and lastly make sure you have an over tightened that belt. It wouldn't hurt to take the belt off and turn the pulley and see if you still hear the noise, there is a possibility it could be a bad bearing in the generator.

Yep, its got white ones now! That could be changed with some wiring trickery. I would have put the white ones on that mystery switch under the dash, and set the amber for both flasher and marker with a trailer wiring adapter, a couple diodes and some resistors.

Duckman, I have a 73 beetle with the same headlights (shaved off the fender top turn signals as well). I have everything connected but I am not getting any DRL lights on. When DRL's are on, my turn signals work and brake lights etc., but no DRL. When I switch to low beams I am able to have low beams and all turn signals, brake lights, reverse, etc. functioning properly. The only problem in lowbeam mode is that when I use the left turn signal, it toggles my high beams on and off at each activation. Is it possible something is awry in my column to cause this? I watched your video about 7x today trying to see if I did anything wrong but my wiring is identical. Help!

Well its tough to say, as that is a wiring problem that could be one of a million things, but I can't see, so you'll have to track down. I would start by getting a 73 Beetle wiring diagram from thesamba.com and start looking at the left turn signal circuit. For the low beam stuff, something is bridged between circuits where it shouldnt be, or the wiring is all wrong. Some things are surely connected out of place. Yes, the problem could be in the column wiring itself, so you can also check the connector under the column and make sure it is on the right pins. Sometimes those column wires were burned up by previous owner and you can't see then unless you remove the whole turn signal switch, its worth looking at. Beyond that I really can't judge nor determine what is wrong without hunting around with a continuity checker and a test light myself, and sadly your car isn't here for me to do that! But I hope I helped!
