Installing LMC's Tucked Bumper Brackets on a 1979 Ford F100

In this episode, Aaron shows his viewers how to install LMC's tucked bumper brackets on his 1979 F100. These brackets will move the factory bumper closer to the edge of the bed, giving it that custom look that everyone wants without making any other major modifications. The bumper used for this project was also supposed to be from LMC, but it turned out the white didn't match the truck well, so we went with a factory Ford bumper off another truck. What do you think of the final look?

I'm enjoying you channel and how you explain things.. I had a 1978-1/2 F-250 .this brings back some great memories of learning how to be a back yard mechanic..

It seems like LMC does sell fairly good parts I am going to have to get a front bumper for my 1973 f250 highboy 4x4 I hope that they have the mounting brackets for it being the frame is narrower than the other models

The reason there was such a gap between bumper and lower quarter. When you get hit in the rear it won't deform the bottom the lower quarter's, letting the bumper do it's job and take the brunt of the damage...

Nice one, would be nice to see a visual comparison to the stock brackets. Could the stock brackets be drilled and trimmed to get the same effect? Accuracy in drilling might be difficult though.

So the stock ones stick out about 2 inches total If I recall, and yes as you stated the drilling of the brackets could prove difficult, but I haven't tried myself.

That looks great. The original brackets are a mile away from the body.

Thank you, yea it looks silly from the factory. The only advantage with a factory bracket is you have some space if it gets bent from an accident, with these its hitting the bed right away

Hey Aaron, trying to repaint the rear tailgate on my 78, it's a custom and has the white lettering on the tailgate. Just looking for a white that I can brush on the Ford letters. Do you have a color you use or recommend?

On this truck the tape stripes are "antique white" or what is known as "wimbledon white" for us Ford guys, but if you ask me the white letters on the gate are a bright white. Its your preference, but for me I like the brighter true white for the letters. The color on the bumper I didn't use was the duplicolor wimbledon white (antique white) and it didn't match the letters at all.

@@DentsideDepot thanks for the information, I will definitely find some "bright white" touch up paint and go with that. The truck is a driver so it doesn't need to be perfect! Right on, thank you again
