unless ur 65+ keep the kickstart only on YZ. i ride with a guy who is 76, rides twice a week and is very well off could buy any bike he bought a YZ250 kickstart baby

Absolutely agree, I've been in some ridiculous positions with both kick and e.start, anyone that pushes into uncharted territory in new single track knows just how valuable estart, rekluse, lhrb, are, I've been on literal mountain sides on kick only tipping off-trail and rolling 30 feet down the downward slope, crawling up an almost unclimbable slope to lift a 230 lb gasgas uphill , then be forced to go downhill to restart as you're never going to get forward momentum. I could care less what "others" think I'll take any advantage out there. The mentally is ridiculous to say we shouldn't use technology that's available, what like Amish,

Those little 4 cell Antigravity batteries are awesome! I’ve had one on my ‘18 450 EXCF for 3 years and it’s been solid, zero issues even leaving the key on! I got it when the stock one died it was only thing available short lead time. Highly recommended!

Thanks for all the videos. Wanted to ask if you still recommend the panthera electric start? I have been looking through youtube/thumpertalk and seems like some people like it and others hate it. I looked on their website and looks like they have a gen 2 model for CR but I didn't know if they have fixed any of the issues you have already experienced. DId you get the 90W DC charging system option eventually? Wanted to get your opinion. Thanks again for all these videos!

I know. But there are lots of differences and I think it’s going to hold up. Their 500 ones seem too. And they little bit at the end is from the motor going backwards for a split second at the end because of compression. But if I’m wrong I’ll let you all know.

Awesome install vid, wish I 'd seen it yesterday. I'm in the process of installing my panthera kit. I have oil leaking from the wires through the grommet. Waiting overnight on my 3rd attempt to seal, this time with ultra black rtv on both sides of the grommet. Otherwise have been really impressed with the quality and engineering of the kit. In future Sebastien should come up with a better sealing solution for these wires though, so it's just plug and play.

I agree man. Have you watched the next vid? It’s the one called fixing the kit. I had to do it out of the bike all around the wires and it’s working great.

@@highlandcycles Yes. Just watched it. We were going to pull the stator back out this afternoon and clean and seal it on the bench but we couldn't get the panthera flywheel off. We tried to make a removal tool but it felt like we were going to break the flywheel. How'd you get it off? You have to get a tool from Sebastien?

@@pressley10r Yeah, My kit came with a removal tool. It is the same tool as the one to hold the gear while you torque the flywheel nut. Looks like a huge inverted gear. The three little holes and the one big one in the middle are for pulling it. It also came with three m6 bolts and one big one that goes in and hits the crank

I know there's a little o-ring on the clutch cable sleeve, but I like to add some yamabond or red rtv to the o-ring so water has a harder time getting through to the flywheel. Still watching the video so maybe you did that. Especially since now there's an oil bath in there.

Excellent video, you're inspiring me to do a YZ build this winter! Did you happen to check the weight difference between the flywheels? The kit came with the flywheel wrench, that's one sweet kit and all for under 50 bucks huh? LOL. Where's is the rectifier? I never saw one Fully charged 12V lithium is 13.3 to 13.4 volts. 12.6v is only a 20% charged lithium and will go dead quick, trust me went through this on my Beta 390

Reg/rec is hooked to the battery box. It’s on the left if you’re looking down from the handlebars. Figured out the problem and Panthera is sending me new parts. Got a bad stator. It was arcing between the exciter coil and the charging coil. Just a manufacturing goof. I’m stoked for the kit. I didn’t check weight but with the gear and sprague clutch it feels about the same as my old One with a 10 oz weight.

SSS Suspension, Mako 360 and estart, I'm Jelly GREAT build, looks FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sometimes think about a Yammy 250x, factory estart would seal the deal. I've read about the gore 300 kit(long time ago), that could be sweet too.

Another few things, probably use teflon tape or a crush washer on the oil drain bolt, mine leaked. Use lots of RTV on the grommet with the wires as you found out. And finally at idle my battery is at 13.5v.

Firdtvthank you for all the help you have given us all.. You have been gracious enough to already answer 2 questions for me but I'm running into all the same problems you have had on my sons bike. After pulling the clutch cover to fix a leak I found a ton of metal shavings and decided I would replace the rubber boot with an OEM one. I noticed the gear on the flywheel spins counter clockwise and has an obvious warped shape when spinning it. How did you remove it? When using the provided gear tool the bolt spinning freely counter clockwise. So I cannot remove it. Feeling like I going back to OEM. Thanks

I am not exactly sure what you are talking about. I use an impact to take the nut off and then the flywheel puller they provided

@@highlandcycles Thanks for the response. So the electric start is installed. The large gear that sit in front of the new flywheel needs to be removed just like you did in another video. It's warped. So maybe I'm missing something here but I assumed that I would put the gear tool they provided me again, hold it in place then take my half in ratchet and remov the bolt I torqued down. Then I remove the flywheel. If I'm correct in my assumption, when I hold the gear in place with provided tool there in no resistance when I try to back out that bolt. The gear stays in ace but the bolt just spins counter clockwise with the flywheel? Is that any better of an explanation?

Ok. Yeah. You need to remove that with an impact. The one way clutch is letting it spin.

Great vid as always! Did you know those “Phillips” screws are actually Japanese international standard screws? Huge difference, seems minimal but it’s not. I bought a set of jis screw drivers and haven’t stripped a screw since, rusty, old, stuck don’t matter. Give it a try! And go Ride your DIRTBIKE!!!

That wire is a time delay for power. Like if you wanted to have the light stay on for a little bit.

Thank you for your help you have been a wealth of knowledge with your videos. I do have one last question....after you pulled the cover off due to the leak did you have metal shavings?..... I had a similar issue with a leak and couldn't believe how much metal was in that oil.

@@KZ736 I didn't have much. Just a tiny bit. I have seen that some folks have had the gear cut through the clutch cable holder. That could be your issue.

No. The difference is the crank. You could update the crankshaft to the newer model but that’s pretty expensive

I think Im hearing the e starter gear spinning while motor is on.. Is that noise coming from the kit?

It only does it when the motor stops and the sprague clutch grabs as the motor “kicks” back a little.

I got the complete package i did everything like you did the problem is after 5hour use the motor gear got worn out so i called panthera they said i have to buy a new one from them and it doesnt cover warranty so i did buy a new one, the question is did i do something wrong in starting so the motor gear got worn out that fast?

Because the motor was made in China, they did not install needle bearings on the head of the motor, excessive wear and tear caused shaking, so the gear was broken!

Just installing my kit. I’ve noticed the case is sealed with no vent pipe. Would this cause the case to become pressurised and then force the oil out? The Ktm wet mod had a vent pipe from what I remember.

They are relying on where the clutch cable comes in to vent the area. Don’t seal that up

@@highlandcycles wouldn’t jet washing riding in water allow dirt to get in contaminating the gear oil and possibly damage the bearing from grit/dirt? A vent pipe at 11oclock would be better. Also the oil can come out of the rubber gromit where the cables come out. Perhaps roller bearing be greased rather than using atf oil.

If you read the instructions carefully they say to silicone the grommet where the wires come out. I didn’t get it in there well which is why mine leaked. And the clutch cable thing is sealed with an o ring but it isn’t so tight that it wouldn’t let pressure out. But it keeps the crap from getting in. I’m not saying a vent pipe would be bad but I don’t think you’ll need it. I have talked to Panthera a bunch already about this stuff.

Very cool! The low charge rate may be set that way for the antigravity LiFe battery chemistry. I had an AG401 on a gs750 cafe racer I built and smoked it due to incorrect charge voltage.

I don’t know officially but I’m guessing about 10lbs. I can say that all done and full of gas, all protection, mousses in tires and ready to race, the bike was 260lbs which is 5lbs heavier than my KTM 300 in the same trim

Yes the E start is nice but at 55 I've been kick starting my whole life , if a bike starts on the first kick it's no big deal.

@@marinedad2007 weird. Actually now I remember there was a guy who lost one. I can’t remember exactly what he did to solve it. I know there have been some bad stators. I had one, I caught it before anything went wrong. Has Sebastien talked to you?

@@highlandcycles A few times I have another message into him after I got an aftermarket starter to try with same results, Sent him back 2nd starter this week. I get about 10 tries before they burn up? Very frustrating as you can imagen.

Cant afford to pay $1250. Does it make sense to get a recluse clutch so the bike does not stall as much?

I can make sense but the only Rekluse I would run is the $1000 one. The less expensive ones don’t feel right in my opinion.

Yea just found that email right after, did u ever find out with the little random red/Yellow wire went too up in the battery box

@@joshuashirey4998 yeah. It’s a time delay power wire from the reg/rec You can use it if you want the light to stay on for a few seconds after you kill the bike. KTM’s use it on their street legal bikes.
