I had to mount some Maxxis Minion tires on my fat tire HED rims. Virtually impossible to fill them with an air compressor since these tire come folded up. What I had to do what first use an inner tube to seat one side. I removed the inner tube, and only then was able to use the air compressor to successfully seat the other side. A pain in the arse ;)

What needs to be done is a video on a difficult tubeless setup. I recently installed 4.8 Minions on a set of 80mm Mulefut rims and no matter what I did, the beads of both sides of the tires wanted to stay in the center of the rim. If I pulled them out to the edge of the rim, they would just go right back to the center. The rubber on the tires just had memory and wanted to be joined together. This was even after unfolding the tire from packaging for a month. I had 150psi on my compressor and had the valve core out to increase flow and no matter how many hands I had trying to get the tire flattened out , there was just too many large air gaps. I tried soaping the beads to aid in setup and still no joy. I've been setting up tubeless tires standard and fat for 15 years and have only encountered this a few times. Sometimes it's due to the tire/rim combo and sometimes the rubber is just stubborn and does not want to relax. In this case, I had to install a tube, which expands the tire and sets the bead. I leave this setup over night try and get the tire bead to "learn" its new shape. Then I break the bead (on one side only) to remove the tube, add sealant and then compressed air to set the one bead. I prefer to install sealant straight into the tire carcass rather than through the valve stem. Some valve stems are prone to clogging when to push sealant through them. This can make it difficult to both add and remove air, as sometimes a "plug" forms in the core. Another way to avoid this is to use a high flow valve stem with no intern rubber surfaces like the Muc-Off and Santa Cruz valves. They are expensive, but worth it in the long run.

Very nice, thank you for slap trick when putting in air. I just bought a Mongoose Dolomite ALX and I'd rather go tubeless. I'm hoping I can use original tires,since they are brand new. I need to check out your other video, to see what goes on rim and what valve I need. Never did tubeless before. Thank you for great video and you got new sub.
