I've recently built a grade using the 2% grade risers. I found it easier in my case to cut a template that described the outer edge of the risers. It made it easier for me to follow my intended path instead of trying to sight a center line and guestimate how it aligned with the riser center line. After laying cork road bed and the flex track, I realized I had installed one of the risers upside down. I would not have thought this would cause problem, but it introduced a hump at one junction in the riser path. I'll be able to correct it by freeing the cork from the riser and shimming the cork for about 6 inches, but this indicates that some care should be exercised in using this product. I too used a cheap acrylic adhesive caulk to glue the risers to my foam baseboard.

Finally someone used caulk with Woodland Scenics raisers. That's what I'm planning.

Thanks, the risers come already tapered you can get them as 4%, 3% and 2%. They save you alot of work instead of working out the slope % and making something out of plywood. Also because my layout is portable it makes the layout lighter.

The only loco I have tried with the 4% incline is a Intermountain SD40-2W, and it handled the incline ok

This is all good but would like to see track laying on top of the risers. Will assume track has to be glued into position?

Very informative video on the woodland riser system. Does the risers that you show come already tapered from 0 grade and upward, or did you have to do that with some sort of form cutter. I was considering the cookie cutter tract system but do want to cut into my roadbed. Thanks

I'm going to glue down a foam trackbed first using the acrylic sealant then lay the track on top using PVA glue. I am in the middle of making a video on lay the track down now.

I used the Woodlands Scenics 2% riser to produce a figure 8 climb on my 009 layout. Without the WS product getting a perfectly even gradient over 16 feet would have been very difficult.

👍I like the risers, seem to go down pretty nice. It looks like you're using a ridged putty knife. I have better results with a more flexible knife. Just my opinion. Thanks for the informative video.🚂

the dims are 1.8m x 1.3m. the foam risers make it easy, but 4% is to steep for the locos.

I would not use 4% incline again as it causes trouble with loco getting up and the slope. sorry for my late reply

Hello, Im a new novice HO scale hobbyist and have been scouring websites, magazines and emailing various pros on the best way to incorporate an HO scale train layout with an HO racing set layout with limited success? Im finding info on one or the other, but not combined? I'm guessing that the majority of the race track would need to be elevated above or over the train track layout? My starter kits are the 4 lane AFX International Raceway (I like the Japan layout, but want to add track) and a two engine Bachman HO Train set (Its oval layout ,but Im adding track). The bench work will be either 8"x14' or 10'x12' L shaped. Id appreciate if anyone could share some advise? Thanks, Outstanding video!

I have 4% on my n scale layout I'm building. On a DC test, my loco has no problem with a load but my rolling stock comes uncoupled on the incline. Help! Any advice?

Why not pin the risers to the track then glue down remove track and done?

Wouldn't be easier to use clear sealant us you can see your plan.

Forgive me but you have laminated board. With No severe curves or trackwork. Why not simply do cookie cutter using the board and forego any hassle with the foam risers?
