In novel "Insurgent" Christina was not injected by transmitters for simulation. Christina woke up Tris at night. Then they immediately run to the roof, where Marlene, Hector and a child (her name is unknown) stayed on the edge of a roof. This three persons were under simulations. They sayed about Divergents and then each of them began to jump down. Tris caught Hector, Christina caught small child. Marlene didn't survive. Only Christina and Tris were on the roof and only they can save Marlene, Hector and a child. On the roof there was not a crowd of people like in the movie. After this horrible situation Christina understood how human looks under simulation. You can't hear and see nobody. You're like a doll. So Christina forgived Tris that she killed Will, because there was no other choice.

There's a lot of divergent people, however only Tris was divergent in all 5 factions equally, the other "divergents" are only partially so. Which makes her the biggest interest for everyone involved, if that makes any sense. No one else could open the box.

In da book, just saying, it they said "Send us a divergent or everyday 3 more deaths will occur" I understand that they wanted to make it a lil bit different, but this is depressingly different. In the book, Christina came and got Tris from her room to tell her that there was another simulation. The people on the ledge were Hector, a ten year old girl and I think her name was Marlene, who did die in the book. Also I noticed, out of all those people, they couldn't have formed a net with their hands???

It's been 4 years since you commented this, but I'm re-reading the book right now for the first time since I was in high school (over 10 years), and you're absolutely right. Not to mention, in the book, Christina doesn't even get hit with the transmitter to put her under this simulation, so? I understand the movie had to make it someone we care about, unlike how there's so many book characters that we love but that don't make it to the screen (Uriah, Lynn, and then of course Marlene who ACTUALLY dies during this scene) but the amount to which they changed these stories?? It's really upsetting. They had so much to work with, and there was no reason to change so much in my opinion.

Four couldn’t have caught Marlene from the bottom of the ledge because the impact would kill them both anyway. Also, maybe if a third person ran up to catch her or the crowd actually got something to make a soft landing for her, Marlene would’ve survived but those are like the only two scenarios that would’ve worked. Four couldn’t have caught her from that height unless you want him to die (hopefully no one wants that) Idk who Marlene is bc I didn’t read the books but she sounds important idk. And not to mention this is actually pretty realistic. everyone was in shock and sorry if this doesn’t satisfy you but the story was written this way and u can’t change it so too bad

Movie "Insurgent" differs from novel "Insurgent". This movie has many illogical moments. In the novel every moment is logical.

I think the actors in this movie were incredible. I could practically feel the pain and guilt radiating off of Tris. However, I do have a bone to pick with the script’s writers. First of all, why wasn’t this scene in the middle of the night, like the original book? Someone could have saved Marlene here (it makes no sense that someone didn’t), but nobody could have saved her if everyone except Tris, Christina (she was not in the sim in the book), and the three simulation-controlled people were asleep. There are several other instances throughout the movies that don’t make sense, like adding in Jeanine in the Sim-controlled Tobias vs Tris scene. I get that it’s to make it more dramatic, but I feel like trying to make it more dramatic made it less reasonable in some cases, and eventually led down a path almost completely different from the original Divergent Trilogy.

The movies kinda went haywire from Insurgent onwards. The first movie was the most loyal to the books, with certain changes, but they tried too hard to make it sci-fi/futuristic when I'm pretty sure in the books it's all pretty realistic and common technology, minus for the serum stuff. For example, in Allegiant the Bureau wasn't spying on Chicago through some insane projection technology, but through literal security cameras. Everything ran on basic computers, not sci-fi supermachines with air keyboards and all that. Or the bureau didn't have those crazy airships we saw in the movies, but just basic passenger planes. The movies were alright on their own, but strayed too far from the books.

Well in the book Marlene died like this too, but in the books she was more well developed as a character and had a relationship with Uriah and Lynn. This movie treated her(along with Uriah and Lynn) as a minor and killed her like a minor. Personally I like to think the books only exist, and not this cringe(Woodley, though is a good actress).

The thing I hate about the movies derived from books is that they change the whole sceneee I understand about the dialogues but I don't see the need to change everything Like in this scene in the book, christina is not under simulation..
