Here in Japan the AMD CPUs are much more expensive. The i3-10105 can be had for 18,000 yen while the Ryzen 3300x goes for 38,000 yen. I guess demand for the AMD CPUs has pushed the price up. It has been that way for a few years now.

Amen to that. Looking to replace my other half's i5-6500 rig with one. I figure a reasonable 3300x and B550 build will do for a good few years. Then later down the line add a Zen 2+ R5 and use the 3300x in a htpc
@timothygibney159
@timothygibney159 4 жыл бұрын
@@bengrogan9710 I wouldn't bother. If you want to upgrade because you are experiencing micro stutter or lag in fps or in games which are MMOs like World of Warcraft it is because they use multiple threads. You will continue to see stutters on a 3300x. If you can save some more $$$ by the end of the summer when human malware stops disrupting parts get an i5 or at least a 3600x or 4600 which is right around the corner. Better yet a 3700x. The reason being is XBoxOne (next gen) will include 8 cores 16 threaded Ryzen CPU and all your games will use 8 to 16 threads. That 3300x will be obsolete FAST for these ported games. THe only reason games don't all perform like crap is Intel forced 4 core CPUs so long that porting xbox games requires developers to recode with less threads. Now? Why bother.We see it now in many new games like FarCry even if the overall fps is good the .1 lows suck on less than 12 threads.

@@timothygibney159 More a case of stuttering due to lack of threads causing choking when she has chrome open when gaming and the microstutters in WoW I know from past experience with my old i7-3770k are fixed with the additional thread count since they patched in 8.1 Bear in min I said a 6500, not a K sku - the 3300x is a flat upgrade of all aspect even before considering thread counts As stated the 3300x is planned as an interim until the Zen 2+ launch after which its to transition to a HTPC itx once the 4600 actually becomes available as opposed to a paper launch - which I don't expect too soon since the info suggests the XT refresh coming to tide us over

They actually think people will just go oh darn I guess I got to pay for an i5 or i7 and give Intel more $$$. What they don't understand is post 2017 is AMD will be happy to take their money instead. Once gamers who are allergic to AMD as eww (many exist due to their past products) and switch they are more than likely to stay loyal to that brand. Intel is cutting the nose to spite the face as they want to keep Intel gamers who don't go to Gamers Nexus to be fanboys for life and that changes when you go Ryzen. Intel should at least make an i3K unlocked cache for budget gamers at this price and cut the cost of this CPU to $99 or something.

To differentiate it from the Core i3-10300. Market segmentation works. The Core i3-10100 is good value because of the inclusion of a GPU, the Core i3-10300 is a meaningful upgrade. AMD offers better value, but it's clear that Intel at this point can't compete on value or (multi-core) performance, so they rely on brand recognition, which is, at least for now, a valid strategy.

Intel doesn't sell the 7700K anymore, they don't care if it gets wrecked by an i3. The real issue is between the 10400 and the 10600K, which are the same cpu separated by more than 100 bucks and an unlocked multiplier. And in 3-6 years people will be selling them and the used market place will make them into used gaming rigs and the cycle will continue. It's nice to see the markets work so well

The conclusions in these reviews are completely wrong after some weeks their publication because of price changes. For example, the price of the 3300X increased to a point where it is a quite bad deal. In Italy, it costs 10€ less than the 3600, would you buy it? The i3 10100 costs ~150€ which is, in my opinion, a quite good deal, compared for example to the 3400G (~150€). For less than the price of a 3600, you can get an i5 10400F. I don't see much convenience in buying AMD anymore. Many of the budget-wise advantages AMD had in the past have gone. For example, AMD motherboard are now as expensive as Intel's ones, if not more. As of July, B550s have ridiculous (expected) prices for being budget boards (above 120€). B450s prices (for ATX) are also all above 100€; they were around ~80-90€ some months ago.

I have to agree, YMMV depending on where you are (i'm in south america), but i'm building a new pc and after reserving a b550m board (asus tuf wifi) i ended up requesting an exchange for a z490 (msi gaming edge wifi). Turns out that when i did the full math i could get an i5 10400f with the z490 mobo and 8gb ram for the price of a r5 3600 and b550m mobo. The motherboards where about the same, but the cpu was a lot cheaper and i was definitely surprised, always assumed it was cheaper to build an AMD rig.

The i5 2300 plays games like WoW classic well over 100fps 1080p, HoTS too, etc, but It's showing it's age😂 time to upgrade 😂. I can't justify spending $300 on a 5600x + $100 on a good CPU cooler, makes no sense. Already have 500w 80+ bronze PSU, HAF 912 case, Crucial mx500 SSD, GTX 1060. If I get the 10100F $69.99 + $60 RAM, $70 Intel motherboard ($20 off at microcenter), total $200+ tax😂😂😂 At 1080P it will play most of the competitive games at well over 100fps at 1080p, that's all I need.

Each series has variations, i7-10750H, i7-10710U Then there is the is the processor families core-x, i9, i7, i5, i3 etc... Then there is the sque code, ie K, T, H, U, Y, etc. The naming works on paper, especially if you have a table explaining the different features of each designation. When we actually saying the 10th Gen model names out loud it sounds fairly stupid and harder to remember. Unfortunately It's not like its drastically different cpu architecture to re design a whole new naming scheme.

Hi! I bought an intel 10100 for a new rig for my parents. I needed the iGPU as they don't need a dedicated graphics card. They turn over a home PC about every 8 years so I felt like the 4 core, 8 threads was worth splurging for over an Athlon 3000g or other budget CPU. Lastly, they didn't want to migrate their existing home PC to a new hard disk, so grabbing a 16GB Intel optane drive for $20 and keeping the existing HDD was the easiest/cheapest solution to bring SSD level performance to their windows OS and frequent applications. I got the processor for $122 on Amazon when it launched and a B460 board for $80. Even though many reviewers have talked about there not being a place for the 10100, for me I think it was perfect. 3100 was a tough contender if I could have got it at $99, but they weren't available.

They also wanted a high resolution monitor to "see all the details" and have good color accuracy. This use case was almost... Monitor first and foremost... This CPU in a Mini-ATX board will make a great starter PC for them. Ended up spending just over 1000 USD for the whole system. Monitor of choice was the AOC CQ27G2 27" 2K monitor, and the onboard graphics will cover the pixels I they need. Also, the very favorable color accuracy showing in its rtings.com review was a great selling point. They will have 1TB of SSD, and 2TB on a HDD. A decent B460 board to get the started. And a decent cooler to one day make the leap to a better chip if desired. All said and done, they will have a great starter rig in a compact chassis, and room to get an actual Graphics card if they need it. That's why I chose the 10100.... I also could not find a AMD 3200G anywhere!

As a guy currently looking into getting the 9100F, there is a potentially ultra-specific use case I can think of: Low wattage single threaded performance. Right now I have the very odd problem of having a power limit from what I can take from the wall so I only have about 250 watts MAX I can get with all my parts. Moreover, I run PCSX2 emulation a lot which is almost entirely bound by your single threaded performance numbers. Without buying an entirely new system, the x100 parts from intel fill an interesting gap where I can use some of my old parts and still have an upgrade compared to my old cpu. In almost any other use case (gaming, streaming, video editing, rendering, etc) the intel pales in comparison to its competitors except specifically in PCSX2 where single threaded performance is more or less the only way you can get better frames. Given my cpu power budget, the only other processors out there that can come close are pentiums, MAYBE the 3100, and an athlon. In that specific case the 9100, and likely the 10100, absolutely blows those other ones out of the water even if it's a pretty hollow victory given the price.

When building streaming PCs for others, my friends wanted their system in very small form factor with no space for a pcie/dgpu. Intel quicksync is enough to stream 1080p60 and 4k through a usb 3.0 capture card and we bought a 9600k over the 2700 for that reason. The 9600k (although unfortunate not having threads) and at $150 was what fit the niche. AMD's APU unfortunately did not have enough power at 4c/8t (3400g) and leaves the user with no room for further upgrades if doing heavier streams. E.g. we can upgrade to a 9700/9900k down the line.

The 4700G is right around the corner, so there would have been an upgrade path to 8c/16t and 8 Vega cores. But if the current offerings didn't have the grunt I see your point.

(After watching up to the ad spot) Wait a minute. At $140 it’s only $35 cheaper than the Ryzen 5 3600. At that price delta, why wouldn’t you get the 3600? It’s better at everything!

3600 is a lot better at multithread performance and it has better "future proofing", but it certainly isn't better at everything. 3300x is cheaper and still outperforms 3600 in some (many) games and not all of us stream or edit videos. People who play old games or esports type of titles the 3300x is probably clearly better. And I needed an upgrade to the cpu but will most likely get zen3 quite soon after it's release, so saving 35$ is a good deal.

İ3 10100f amazing cpu for price performance. No heat, low power waste and beastly performance for price, it's giving same performance with i7 7700k, plus better and perfected technology. Thats really good intel cpu. Use it with 6600xt or 3060ti you will have beast machine.

Seems for most i7 4C/8T users, way to go is to wait for B550, then go for 3300x, then next upgrade in 2-3 years, when games start to need 8cores, wait for DDR5 and next generation of zen architecture 6C/12T or 8C/16T.

Steve, did you get the Intel memo?? Benchmarks should not be considered in buying a CPU....unless it's better than the AMD equivalent.

Which platform will eat less power in idle: i3 10100 with something like h410 itx or Ryzen 3100 on b450/b550 itx?. Not counting vga or drives.

Well I just bought a prebuilt itx system(without gpu) with a z490 mobo, 32gb ram and 10100. Sure the 10100 is a complete waste in a z490, but I ended up saving about $150 vs piecing the system myself. I am coming from a b85 1271 v3 matx build, so I felt like buying the itx prebuild was a very good upgrade for future purposes. At best my new system would be more of a lateral move, but now I have a much better upgrade path once the 10th i5,i7 and i9 k processors get cheaper later on.

I hope they come out with an i3 10190K that's a 4c/8t unlocked CPU so we can role play high end gaming from 2012.

Amd screwed big time in the budget to mid-range region. You can get 10100f for 15$ less than the 3100, 3300x doesn't exist. There isn't a 200$ 5600 so now the 10400f is 25$ cheaper than the 3600 while performing equally. You let me down amd

Found it at 80 euros(90 dollars). At this price it's good competition for the 1600AF, but if you consider the motherboard (B450M for example) the costs are similar enough that Overclocking and RAM frequency matter more..

One thing I found kind of interesting about the 10100 is due to its comparability with a i7 7700, people that are running CPU intensive systems like home built security camera computers, the super cheap 10100 allows the building of a "recommended spec" 10-30 camera computer for almost half the cost when compared to 2-3 years ago. Back when the 7700 was current, you had to run around a $700-900 CPU/ mobo/ memory combo. With the 10100, b450, and 16gb ram it's only like $300 to run programs like blue iris. The 10100 also does better than the new ryzen 3100/3300 due to them not having intel quick sink.

I might still get the i3 10100 for a basic office pc that I have to build, for the stability and familiarity of intel. If I was building my own gaming pc, I think I would have to go with some Ryzen cpu, depending on what the costs/benchmarks are. EDIT, I need integrated graphics really, so that's another reason to go with the intel. There's the ryzen 5 3400G, but on cpu passmark thing its about equal with the i3 10100 or i3 10300 if I remember correctly.

Nice video Steve! One thing I wanna ask, and maybe a suggestion for a video (or is it already exist?). I own an R5 2400G and planning to upgrade soon, I'm considering the 3100, 3300X and 3600(as these are what my budget allows), or maybe the new upcoming Ryzen APU. Can you make a pure CPU capability comparison of Ryzen APUs, maybe after the release of the rumored new Ryzen APU, and include other Ryzen chips benchmark data too if you can, thanks!

The reason why the i3 10100 can be a viable option is international pricing. In my country, a 3100 is priced around 175$, while I can get the i3 for 150$ or the F version for 137$. And at that point, the 38$ gap isn't really worth it.
