Yeah I'd highly recommend taking that sensor off and seeing if air is coming out with the engine running before having Nissan or a garage look at it. Unless your car is still under a warranty obviously.

No problem Liam, I believe it's the design of the pipe that's the issue. The kink in it causes the carbon build up over time. I don't understand why the sensor needs to be on the top of the engine really!

@@terryvaughan6660 Hi Terry. It was Wynns DPF cleaner, they also do an Extreme Diesel cleaner. It wouldn’t do any harm to give it a blast. I have 2 Qashqai’s of the same age/model etc. I’ve had this issue with both. The DPF cleaner fixed one but not the other. I think it boils down to how badly the pipe is blocked.

@@liamhenning Thanks Liam. I've just ordered some Wynn's DPF cleaner to be collected tonight. I'm thinking I'm also going to put some Shell V5 fuel in the tank before adding the Wynn's then take the car for a run up the nearest motorway. I hope I'll be lucky and that will resolve the issue for me.

I'd suggest trying to clear it with the engine off at first, and yes air should woosh out of it when it's clear.

Attempting the same on X-Trail 2015 but part is insanely tricky to get to... Really struggling to get initial clip off

It's very fiddly. I found after I took the bracket off it made it alot easier to get to.

@@danieleq7178 hi mate, I have never touched a car in my life and I'm useless at DIY so believe me when I say it's possible. You will need to buy a bike gear cable which are about 3 quid on Amazon. You'll also need a drill, the bolt on the back of the bracket is hard to get to so having some small spanners/small adjustable spanner or if you have them a socket set to get it off. From there it gives you plenty of room to get at the clip. The clip can be leavered out with a screwdriver and the clip that sits around the hose you can lower down by squeezing it with some flat pliers or a set of grips. From there mate I would try pushing the cable down the hole until it stops and then pull it back out with your finger on it. That will give you a measurement of how far the blockage is, I then cut a few lengths of the cable at different lengths, (getting longer as you gradually get deeper with the drill) this allowed me to keep going deeper without kinking the cable and getting enough pressure on the crap down in the hose. Use a drill with the cable as shown by the gentleman in the video, I nearly gave up to be honest but kept going. You'll know you've cleared it when all the crap and smoke come spilling out of it. You may need someones diagnostic tool to clear the fault once you've done it. If you have a mechanic friend who can do that or buy a cheap one off the internet. Good luck

Hi, another person tried doubling up the cable by bending it in half, it made it stronger and less likely to fray. It did take me many attempts so other then above, all I can say is persevere - you will get there!

Hi, drill with the engine on so you know when you've got through it. As for how, put around half a metre of brake wire into the drill chuck and work your way down whilst "drilling"

Hi, put the wire in the drill and do it with engine off as you could get burnt from the sudden hot gas release. Get cleaner deffo helped and I didn't get the issue back in the next 2 years after doing this

If you loosen it and move it down about 2 inches then really pull the sensor, it should come out

Ok, really feels like something is going to break. I have a 2014 tekna too but you seem to have more room around the pipe. When I tried to move the clip down I could only move it about 1 Inch. Will try again sometime.

Have you removed the bracket holding it in place?

The bracket is held on with a 10mm nut I think. I used a drill to clear it.

Iv been trying this for a hour now, can’t seem to get the lead down that bend, put it on a drill bit but the lead twists at the to… having a 5 minute break before I give it again again :0(

It could be yeah, maybe putting your foot down pushes a bit of air to the sensor to clear it. I'd suggest removing the sensor with the engine running to see if any air is coming out. If not, this is your problem. Mine is making a few appearances again so may get an updated video done soon.

Best option is to buy a newer Nissan sd card off eBay

Yeah they will. If you have a local smart key company, give them a call as they should be cheaper. It isn't a cheap job though so prices will be steep.

That's strange, see what happens with the engine running. There should be air coming out of it. (obviously have a cloth around it in case of spillage )

As far as you can. I must stress though it's a hard job, you must persevere until air (and a lot of soot!) comes out. You could ask a local garage to do the job as I reckon a blast of air could do the job.

I forgot to mention, a diagnostic machine has been plugged in to check for faults and nothing is coming up. So you mentioned to reset it, how would that work ?

Hi Brett. I'd get your battery tested as that's also something that causes similar lights to pop up. Most main stream garages do this free of charge. By reset I mean with a fault code reader to clear the faults.

@@TheQashqaiGuy That sounds about right! Does it hit a hard end? I just wasn't sure if it was to continue. The error codes are reporting both p0470 and p0471, so I'm pretty certain it's this or the sensor itself.

It has a couple of tight elbow turns to take which is what takes so long. If there's no air coming out of it then it's deffo blocked

It didn't in my case but I suppose it could do as the sensor won't be getting the correct readings so could change something else in the running.

Dan Smith I’ve had to take it to a garage to be repaired, they have just called to say it’s no2 injector which needs replacing, normal vehicles run from 1 2 3 4 from the cam belt end with a dci engine it runs from 4 3 2 1, which might be useful for other followers to remember.

​@@fredgreen4773 I have had the exact same issue as you! Car was running fine and bam it seemed as though we lost a cylinder. The errors on the dash are quite similar to this video. I was getting P0201 and P0202 injector circuit faults from OBD connected to the computer. The dealership replaced both injectors for around £500. Unfortunately for me, the problem happened again right at the start of lockdown, so we were left without a car. This time the problem was with cylinder 4 injector. Now here's the good news. This video (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pbB6lMmmzN_WcYU.html) shows a simple procedure that you can do for yourself. Basically the connections to the computer can get fouled up and disconnecting them and spraying with electrical contact cleaner (with battery disconnected) has fixed the problem for me. Time will tell if it was the actual culprit, but the system is reset and is running fine. Tomorrow I am going to check the exhaust tube as described in this video.

@@TheQashqaiGuy Thanks, If i get you right is that there must be exhaust gases coming out from that tube, if not it means it is blocked, therefore the sensor has no data to provide to the ecu which consequently cuts engine power

Not initially. As you get through it keep trying but not that the gasses that come out of the pipe are extremely hot!

Think you need to scan the error codes off once the pipe has been cleared

Get a normal steel wire or any type of metal wire. If it's very thin, you can take a long part of the cable, bend it over itself, connect it to a drill and spin the two cables around eachother. Kinda like how this guy twists these cables: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q7p6m9WFudKRdXk.html

Unlikely to be the same issue. If you can get a fault code reader and scan it should tell you what the issue is.

I had to get it toed to nissan in the end, it was the big fan at the front of the car under the bonnet that cools the engine, it was slowly nipping the wires for the main computer system.

I'm not aware of this fault on any other engine.

I have had the same start stop problem with my 1.2 digt engine. Also replaced battery once and same happens again. If i charge the battery with wall chrager the problem goes away and then comes back after couple of months. I think nissans smart (stupid) charge system is causing this by not charging battery to full. I am so disappointed with qashqai's bad quality and when I get rid of this I will never again buy Nissan.

But i feel also the same way, i also have one BMW G30 and i know these cars are a world apart but i will go for one more BMW what ever model just because. I bought Nissan for the Japanese quality but i we got one Chinese bad quality example.

Really strange. I can only think it's a code reader issue. Is it monitoring the car running OK? Definitely set up for your exact qashqai model?

It's a while back that I did it. I'd guess about 10 inches? You'll go so far and it'll get stuck at the corner part. Main thing is you'll know you've cleared it when a puff of soot comes out with the engine running!

Hi Angela, it'll need a reset with an obd scanner. You can pick them up for under £20 from motor factors. Check eurocarparts for a decent price.

Oops! Did you loose a lot of it? Next suggestion would be to remove the pipe from the manifold. Probably a garage job unless your confident enough to try it.

@@TheQashqaiGuy about 3-4 inches. Yep we looked at removing it as a possibility but its beyond us. Garage tomorrow and a red-faced confession! BUT at least we know to tell them to ignore the actual faults and sort the pipe/sensor (and potentially check the battery as a potential issue and brake fluid levels, both of which seem to be mentioned a lot in the forums too)

Yes to be fair, as long as your garage actually listen to you and act on what you say, you shouldn't be charged much at all, only Labour. Plus they'll have much more appropriate tools to clear it. If they can remove it, a simple blast of compressed air will sort it. Let me know how you get on :)

No probs bud It's when you purposefully make the engine run hot, so maybe on motorway at 70, leave it in 5th or even 4th for a few miles. Give it a Google and I'm sure they'll be a good guide.

But the diesel model people shows when they clean the exhaust pressure sensor everything cleared off from the screen. But my one is petrol 1.2 and unable to found where is the exhaust pressure sensor is.😥 I couldn't found any help from anyone. 😰 So is it the only one to check my battery health.? The 1.2 did come with a crap battery so get it tested and/or replaced first.

Hi! Just an update, i have removed the sensor and cleaned it. I heard a swoosh sound and black smoke came out when I turned on the car and gave it a rev. Do i need an obd to decode the dashboard lights? When i test drive the car, there’s still vibration when i put the gas on. Any ideas on how i can fix this?

I have an OBD reader, but I can't find where to connect it into lol. I've taken off the fuse panels, both driver and passenger door. Any ideas ? :)

Done. The error code that was showing was p0380 , online it says it relates to the glow plug? Anyway, I've cleared the code. Will take the vehicle out for a test run once the snow is gone 😁😊

I'm really not sure, labour cost depends how confident they are to do the job. Part wise I have no idea of cost.
