We need deflation badly even if it means going through a recession. Prices are simply too high, our purchasing power has been reduced badly & assets have been inflated due to low interest rates & money printing. We need double digit rates & a balanced budget to take the easy money out of the system

Here in the States the Fed is expecting to cut interest rates at least 3 times in 2024. This is based on how the economy performs, but if inflation keeps stabilizing, we can expect interest rates to drop. Oh, BTW Lia, I've noticed lately that your old J&L videos are being reacted by other YT channels.

AK and Lia, so how do you guys pronounce "butter"? I speak with the American equivalent of "received pronunciation" and I say "budder", and in fact I think most Americans would pronounce it that way. But Lawrence Brown of the Lost in the Pond channel said that the British (well at least those with a "posh" accent like his) apparently say it "but-ter". 😲 Also, I was watching another channel with a British guy who talks about esoteric subjects, and was aghast when I heard him pronounce "geyser" -- as in, a place where water is naturally heated by magma underneath the surface of the Earth and from time to time erupts a huge column of water and steam -- as "gee-zer"!!! I was quite surprised by this, because in the USA, a "geezer" is an old guy who says things like "back in my day", and "kids these days", and tells kids to "get off my lawn!" You know the type, yes? In America we call that a geezer. But I read that in Britain, a "geezer" is a young guy who hasn't learned the ways of the world yet. Isn't that odd? 🙂 In the USA we pronounce "geyser" as "guy-zer"! 🙂

They are more likely cutting rates because a deflationary recession is around the corner. Buying a house now may therefore be a winners curse before a possible crash. Economy is looking risky as unemployment rising and strikes back on in many sectors.

Deflation is good for the poor and the middle class. It takes away the unproductive sectors of the economy and takes the easy money out of the system and prevents asset inflation and price manipulation. It increases purchasing power too
