In this episode I will be interviewing Daniel, a 41 year old modular student who will show you just how far you can go if you only have the right attitude, stamina and work ethic.
He will explain how he did his training and how he managed to get the same licenses as the integrated students, at a significantly lower price!
Enjoy.

As always it is a great video! It gave me a lot of energy. I am 33 years old, and the last week I started my Modular training, with PPL. As you could say in a video: "You never too old!" :-) Thank you Petter! Much more fantastic video, please!

I rarely comment on videos since the time I've been around KZfaq in 2008, but man, this is so inspirational, motivating and satisfying. I feel so happy Daniel became a F/O at 41 y/o with ~300hrs TT, I feel so glad as If I know him IRL or something. From the other hand, It's quite demotivating to see 30/35/40 years old having a difficult time getting that first pilot job because they couldn't/didn't get loan and actually worked to collect that flying school money in their 20s/30s, and unfortunately some airlines are just looking for pilots to fill their seats instead of looking for officers that will command their mighty birds. Lastly, people like Daniel and Petter are the thrust of us future pilots' dream, they motivate us and they prove that It's never too late. Congratulations Daniel and Thank You Petter for yet another interesting video. P.S. See you in a decade, when I'll have my licenses ready.

What a great and motivating interview! Listening to Daniel is my own story. Until my late 30's I didn't had the chance to go into aviation. I did my modular training while working and got my license and MCC. The only sad thing is that seems much harder to get called for assesments when you are "old".

Great video, and just at the right time for me! Thanks to Daniel for giving this interview! I am 35, and in a bit of the same situation as Daniel. Steady job in IT, house and a wife, but no kids. Starting to feel the claustrophobia of my current job and having a dream about flying. Looking around at the integrated courses and finding them expensive and maybe not very realistic to do with my current living condition. Great that you give your advice on how you did the modular route Daniel, and would love to hear more about this way of doing it. Judging by the last question that was cut off I guess the next part will be about the challenges of doing this change when being a bit older then the norm, and I am very much looking forward to seeing that video as well!

Awesome video yet again. I'm doing ATPL's via Distance but also doing my hour building at the same time. It definitely helps massively to have a couple days of the month to step away from the books and back into an aircraft. Will refuel your motivation undoubtedly! I highly recommend doing that. Especially if you're going to be studying for longer than 6 months! Also agree massively on his outlook at ATPL's. You see a lot of people moaning and groaning that just want to pass - that's not having true passion for aviation. It's interesting stuff!

I'm a Canadian private pilot, going for my CPL. The way I've been studying, is using the question banks and then finding the answers in my books, and reading the entire part related to the question. Do you find this is a productive way of studying? Or am I lining myself up for failure down the road...

+Mentour Pilot Well, between all the books there are give or take 500-700 pages. So no, I can't say i've read the entire thing. I basically did my PPL through home schooling, but I'm considering doing my commercial and ATPL through a proper ground course. What did you fine more difficult in your opinion, your initial flight training, or the training the company gives you when you get hired?

What's the difference between an ATPL and a CPL?
@Worldofgame121
@Worldofgame121 8 жыл бұрын
+The Astronomicals ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence) One course consists all of licences and ratings, and CPL is just (Commercial Pilot License). As Daniel, there are two ways to get your licence, one is Modular, you do everything separate in stages,(PPL, Rating,Hours,CPL and so on). The other way is you do one integrated course, which gives you a Frozen ATPL. I believe, if wrong someone correct me!
