In this interview, Professor Tom Seeley of Cornell University offers an intimate glimpse into the personal lives of honey bee workers. His new book, "Piping Hot Bees and Boisterous Buzz-Runners - 20 Mysteries of Honey Bee Behavior Solved" introduces readers to twenty biological mysteries, and then tells the story of how those mysteries were solved.
The book is written by a beekeeper (and scientist) for beekeepers, and tells the stories clearly without getting bogged down in too much detail. Listen as Betterbee Director of Research and Education, David Peck, interviews his doctoral advisor about the bee behaviors described in the book, as well as the research philosophy that Tom has employed during his decades of honey bee research.
