Thoughts on the first episode of S2??

Armand is so manipulative if you pay close attention in this episode He's withholding information on manipulating Daniel and Louie

I've been approaching Claudia's recast as part of Louis' memory narrative, it's perfect! she ends up symbolizing the unreliability in his recollection. The tendency is for this interview to break him for the truth, memory is a monster for a reason lol

Glad your enjoying the show! This episode blew me away. The way it captured the loneliness… the distance between Claudia & Louis post Lestat / & in the European countryside was amazing. Stellar work by Delaiyney as Claudia. I think she perfectly captured how hardened the character has become after every she’s experienced. Heartbreaking stuff from Louis this episode. We’re in for some amazing stuff this season!

Pay attention to who Narrates. The Narrator controls the story. I actually like the old school placard introducing Ms.Delainey Hayles as the new cast member. Very theatrical.

It was actually renewed for season 2 before season 1 even aired

subtitles ON helped me so much throughout the episode grasp the dialogue and the acting, it was an amazing return episode

Sorry for all the comments I don't believe Louis' speech at the end at all just like I didn't believe him when he said Armand was the love of his life at the end of the first season I think the creators even said the modeled after the final scene in the movie The proposal where you're supposed to realize that the characters probably made the wrong decision in running off together And I don't believe the speech from this episode because it doesn't fit with Louis' character that much And the fact that lestat was right there when he was making it He's still carrying him in his heart as he's saying the words

I find it interesting that Armand is no longer wearing all black. And Daniel referring to the servant as Real Rashid is hysterically funny! It's also quite telling how much space there is between Louis and Armand on the bed, meanwhile he and Lestat would often squeeze together into a coffin in season one. It's also interesting that Louis was asking Armand's permission to see the pages that were torn from Claudia's diary...hmmm. I just recently watched it, and I'm not a purist, and I don't necessarily hate it, but I'm not so much a fan of the 1994 movie. Tom and Brad did an okay job and Kirsten was brilliant but aside from the time period and a few other things, I just didn't get the vibe of the book, and the drama didn't pull me in. Perhaps if this series had not come out I would feel differently. Of course the haters will likely ignore the fact that both Anne and Christopher Rice were listed as producers on the series, which means they had to have sign off on it. Also, I have to mention that Jacob's acting in this first episode was phenomenal. Anyway, I've been up all night dedicated to this show and it's time for me to try and get a couple hours sleep. ❤

Good recap/review. I had no idea the new actress playing Claudia was British... she did a very good job.

I'm still in awe of how amazing Season 1 was. In seven episodes they served us utter brilliance. A magnificent adaption that puts the movie to shame --and even overshadows the book. And S1 of this new season was just as amazing. They did not miss a beat. Jacob Louis is still fine as hell--and so is Samuel Lestat---even with a slit throat. I too loved how they formally introduced Delainey right at the start of the episode. It's the details baby (and IWTV has been brilliant in that aspect as well.) I loved Bailey's Claudia and I'm already in love with Delainey's Claudia. In a weird way, it kind of fits that it's a different actress. We are seeing or will be seeing the events retold, revised, recollected differently. It's kind of apt that we (and Louis) see her in "new" light--if that makes sense. And we have to remember, especially for those who haven't read the books--that she is very very much a grown woman in that body now. An adult vampire. She guided them there to where they were in this episode. She is relentless and fearless. She is very much the daughter of Lestat. And that scene where she says she's only met four other vampire and they've all been bastards--that was really powerful. That basically she wants to just met a "normal" vampire for once. The thing with that is that Claudia is she's very intelligent-- but even s- ---aargh-- never mind. I've gone on about Claudia in other posts elsewhere. Ever since S1, I've got some strong opinions about her that this new adaption unleashed in me. But I'll wrap it up here. Anyway. I cannot wait to see how they deliver the rest of this book to us.

I find it sad but interesting how both Louie and Claudia become so disregarding of humanity Both not caring about horrifying war or not caring about personal and individual things like the lady's head what that was about to get chopped off and the guy who was begging for someone to help So I'm going to give lestat an INCH of an excuse for his narcissism based on how they're acting now 4 years removed from him

I saw the film at 14 in the summer of '97. It absolutely melted my brain and I have been a ride-or-die Lestat fan since. (I dislike Brad Pitt as Louis. Everyone else is fantastic, especially Tom Cruise and Kirsten Dunst.)

S2 was announced right before the S1 premiere, however, initially the project was suposed to be 1 season for the whole book, but bc of the pandemic, etc, they had to split and adapt, and I think it was good in the end. The reason why the showrunner joined the project was mainly bc of book 2/season 3 and with all the success I'm pretty sure it will be announced soon 🤞🏼 I've loved the movie for decades, it's closer to the books in some ways and very different in others. Anne Rice herself wrote the screenplay. Definitely worth a watch. Couldn't say the same about Queen of the Damned 😂 There are MAJOR spoilers in the movie though, unless you don't mind having S2 spoiled, I'd watch it after it's over... P.S.: Louis isn't French, he's Creole P.S.2: I highly recommend the episode insider after the E2 trailer, great insights and behind the scenes!
