I think people will be surprised to find out that Armand can be ruthless when it comes to getting what he wants. The differences in the book and show are great. But they showed a glimpse of it in this episode. He's calculating and patient, and I agree that he may have wanted Santiago to overhear him and Claudia speaking.

Absolutely, Claudia having such a connection to the coven (even if it eventually sours) makes what’s to come all the worse. What could have been. And it’s interesting that supposedly Anne originally wanted to write Claudia as happily joining the coven, reaching some peace, but Anne then started having nightmares. The nightmares only went away when she wrote the canon ending. 😬 Very intense. I’m so obsessed with Claudia this season. 😭😭😭 Villains who have a good point. LMAO!

Glad we got Armand's backstory this episode. The funny look Lestat is giving while he is telling his story in the museum. Feeling so bad for Claudia. Giving Shirley Temple vibes in that performance. A theme I am seeing for this show is over time, all these vampires are searching for a good companion, but other relationships at the time keep them from happening. That Santiago vs Louis restaurant scene. . .

The way this episode ended!!! I was screaming, I am so ready for next week's episode

I'm getting a very strong feeling toward the idea that Armand has been secretly playing Louis and Daniel this whole time, just as he did last season by pretending to be Rashiid. Based on his behavior towards Louis, on the pictures he claims Rashiid placed into the binder, on the many new memories Daniel is experiencing, I feel like he has been manipulating their minds for decades. It is entirely possible, given his advanced age by comparison to most other vampires at this point in the series, that he has been meddling with their memories and creating overlapping layers that they cannot reach beyond. We know from the brief glimpses that it appears that Daniel somehow triggered or insulted Louis, that he upset him enough to attack. However, we also now know that at some point during this assault, Armand appears to remove Louis from the situation, and instead begins to tamper with Daniel's memories of the event, from paralyzing his body to erasing whole sections of the interview altogether. We know that Daniel remembers meeting and briefly "flirting" with Louis at the bar, went back to what we presume is Daniel's hotel room or apartment, and from that point it is all white space in his mind. Given Louis' reaction to the mention of the fire and how spotty his memory of Claudia is, I feel like he either asked Armand to alter his memories of the past, or Armand chose to do so to distract Louis from his grief and pain. He has been constantly interjecting in the interview, reprimanding Daniel, and pointedly inflicting these memory flashes. He had intimate knowledge of Daniel's relationships, and both he and Louis were using them as cards in their deck of control. Whatever the reason, Armand has been controlling this whole situation from the start for his own ends. He might truly love Louis, but his personality and trauma indicate that he still perceives Louis' habits and lack of self control as a threat, the same way he did Lestat. 70 years together, and he still barely trusts Louis to do this on his own, or without his supervision, unapologetically.

I haven’t read the books but grew up with the movie, I’m absolutely loving this season and the actress who plays Claudia is killing it. I know Santiago is a bit of a d**k but I love his sass 💁‍♂️ he’s hilarious! So excited to see the rest of this season, dreading what is coming up for Claudia though 😭

Great episode. A more manipulative Armand, a treacherous Santiago and a disconnected Louis. He cannot remember things that he should, like the fire at the theater and murdering the vampires in the theater group. I think Armand has messed with Louis mind, made him forget details and major events. He probably did the same to Daniel, which is why he keeps having flashbacks - the Parkinson’s is breaking down the walls Armand put in years ago. Armand did to Louis so Louis never suspects it was Armand who truly influenced the demise of Claudia. He deliberately threatened her in ear shot distance of Santiago and then threatened him not to say a word about it to the group. BUT, Armand KNOWS Santiago will blab it all to the group, sort of indirectly daring them to get rid of her. If Louis suspects him in any way, Armand would lose him forever! And, Armand is insecure, doesn’t wish to be abandoned again, like Lestat did long ago!

Question: is that a late 90s McDonald's Batman Forever glass mug? Looks like it and so many memories unlocked.

My prediction for this season is that we find out Armand has Those Who Must Be Kept in his possession/protection in the Dubai Tower. I've seen some theories on it with weird groan noises in some scenes during the interview with Daniel in S1, Armand actually references the groans and creaks of the building briefly in one scene in Season 1? - Danielle

I am actually convinced that we’re gonna find out part of Armand’s Louis manipulation was that Louis and Lestat actually were seeing each other in Paris or something to that effect because I am all in on Dreamstat is real. I don’t know how but I feel it in my bones.

Did the episode end mid sentence on purpose or was my AMC streaming skipping? Anyway, it's been years since I read Armond but if memory serves, he's one of the most evil SOBs of the vampires and an illusionist/telepath to boot. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't implanting/rearranging memories just for kicks/power/dominance in his relationships. I seem to remember his first encounters with Lestat, he made him hallucinate he was somewhere else/doing some other adventure when he realized Armand was feeding upon him! I can't wait until the next episode! This series is soo much better than the movies, even if it's an alt version of the books.

Did Armand attack Louis, and then alter Louis's memories and plant the memory of taking a beating at Lestat's hands? The beating in Season 1 always struck me as un-like book Lestat. But boy is violence and manipulation right up ARMAND's alley (not to mention dropping from high places)!

I find myself on team Santiago(and Claudia) at this point. I don't know if the writers are making Louis terrible on purpose, but he's insufferable. And Armond is a gaslighting abuser. It seems like Armond wiped Louis' memories of what really happened as well..?

Anybody but me thinking that someone has locked Louis in a coffin to silence/shield him since either that last night in Paris or since 1973 in SF ????? ....did Armand compel Daniel to change the end to IWTV from Louis's original telling back in 1973 .....is Louis emerging from his capture in realtime Dubai as some kind of psyche intervention? ......what do we really trust about that first book ?,or any historic telling for that matter
