Fun fact, Yakutsk is NOT even the coldest populated settlement on Earth, it's actually the little town in that region called Oymiakon (was shown on his phone, by the way), where the recorded temperature was -72.3 or something like that Another fun fact: Cold kills up to 7 times more people annually than extreme heat. So, I guess picking desert actually gives you more chances than if you'd got lost in Taiga forest at -50

The Yakut State University (which is located in this city) has about 60 students from Africa studying every year. There are several videos on the net. Everyone has adapted well and they like it. 6:43 This fog in the city is not smoke from cars, as the commentator claims, but the air becomes like that because of the moisture it contains.

You know what's wild, they use freezers for defrosting meat that's been outside, because the meat is so frozen, it tooks about 2 days to be completely defrosted at room temperature (when the inside of the meat is starting to defrost, the outside becomes spoiled).

I also live in Siberia (to the Southwest of Yakutsk) and yeah... -35°С is almost a guarantee to happen every winter. And not for a day... for a week. And some CRAZY winds in winter that bring a lot of snow. 30 m/s winds... Yeah, it's almost impossible to withstand...

Ah, finally, my element. Welcome to my side ofnthe world, where the cold takes time to leave. Although he seems to be in a place where its 19 degrees colder than me, sheesh Normal cold here is between -17c to -39c, with wind factor it's -23c to -44c. Mind you, we get those temperatures about 2 to 3 months per during the year, sometimes only 1 1/2 months.
