Welcome to the first run of my newly rebuilt Tamiya CC-01. It was originally a Landfreeder but I purchased the Tamiya Land Rover Defender D90 Body Kit and converted it to a Camel Trophy look-alike with a few accessories and a new set of cheap wheels and tyres.
So my wife and I took it to a local park (Leasowes, in Halesowen, West midlands) and we were amazed by the beautiful afternoon Autumn sunlight. We think it looks beautiful with the light streaming through the trees. I had another (rare) attempt at driving and filming at the same time, so please forgive some of the shaky camera and dodgy angles! Louise also took on the camera for the first time ever and filmed one of the clips! Thanks, Lou! :))
The truck is a work in progress, with more detailing to come in the form of a driver and interior and a set of spotlights for the roof. All 8 lights will be fitted with LEDs.
Thanks for watching, take care and see you soon!
CC-01 Modifications:
Full Ball Bearings throughout
35T brushed motor
25kg metal servo with servo saver removed
Locked front and rear differentials
Tamiya Land Rover Defender D90 Body Kit #51607 (SP-1607)
Tamiya Camel Yellow paint - PS-19 for body and TS-34 for wheels
Cheap Chinese 106mm crawler tyres and wheels (£13 for set of 4, Amazon)
Camel stickers kindly donated by ‪@rc-dom-uk‬
Roof rack, spare tyre and tools kindly donated by ‪@rccrawlersmid-wales645‬

Cheers 🍻 Steve, wow I'll take that coming from you! We were lucky with the weather and not too many dog walkers, you can imagine in a built up area every green space is usually crammed! Hope to get a few more trailing / crawling videos done this winter. Cheers my friend 😎👍

What a lovely sunny autumn day to be out on the trails, Mark! It looks so good, your Defender, I know a lot of hours went into that body, well worth it! Especially that last bit, coming up from the water, it gave me that old Camel Trophy feel, it's great! As always, lovely Saturday morning entertainment for me here, now onto something completely different: Rob's CW-01 speedrun video, ha ha! Have a smashing weekend there, my friend!

Thanks dude! I had a great time making this little Defender, still plenty to be done before it's finished! I must say I was very pleased with the way the old rig performed as the CC01 is only a trail runner, really. Yeah, it was great filming this run along with my wife on a sunny Autumn day. Hi James(???) Hope you're doing well! Thanks for the thoughtful comment, much appreciated 👍 🙏. Hopefully I can get some more detailing on the D90 and add a light bar and LEDs plus a proper interior at some point. Glad the video had the chill effect, exactly what I was aiming for! Cheers, dude! 😎👍

@@MarkBryanRC Yes mate! The light bar/led idea will totally finish her off! Just stay away from those cheap Chinese ones on ebay..... As I work late most of our running is done at night, so I fit lights to most of my models. Lost track of how many sets I've gone through on the monster beetle, the wires are so thin they don't last 5 minuits! (mind you, we do put our runners through quite a lot of abuse! 🤣) And yes, a full interior would be superb! The whole attention to scale/detail on the crawling scene is quite a mind opener, especially when you see what those guys in the USA are doing. I'm sure after seeing your video on your rally cockpit that you can pull something off for the landy that equals what you have done with the exterior! Only people within the hobby can truly appreciate the time and effort that goes into this kind of project! Awesome mate! 👍

Hi Mark, well what a beautiful video and production that was - a joy from start to finish. You really captured a great atmosphere here, that I think was helped chiefly by the music but also by the low sun that created those magical sunbeams, and also the mixture and timings of the shots. I look forward to more detailing going on this Defender, though it looks very good as things stand. So pleased you added a temporary driver figure. Well, if your wife filmed one of those shots, then I'm at a loss to which one it was, as everything seemed of the same great quality to me. Look forward to more of this excellent RC....👍🏻. Have a good one dude...✌😀.

Great looking truck Mark!!!! (Brother, I started smoking Camels (non filter) when they were 40 cents a pack, LOL). That truck (I know, old chassis) just "trucks" through anything and asks for more. @MarkBryanRC
@MarkBryanRC Жыл бұрын
Thanks dude! Yeah the CC01 goes well on the trails, can get stuck in the rough stuff, though! There is a part included in the kit to lock the rear diff, but you need to lock the front as well or there is no point (if one front wheel starts to spin you ain't going anywhere!). You can use one of the bevel gears in the front diff and jam it between the other two bevel gears (it's a bit tight but I did it) or the easy way is to just pack the diff with plasticine or blu-tac, that will do the trick! :))

Lovely stuff Derek, I mean Mark 😁 You really did a lovely job on that car and how fortunate to have some autumn sunshine for the video. You got some great shots there and a smashing edit. Many thanks from Derek! Haha, I must admit I'm enjoying going slow for a change! Yeah, the weather was gorgeous that day and Lou and I had a nice walk in the park, with strange looks from passers by, I thought it was like walking a little yellow dog, what's their problem?!?!?! It was tricky doing most of the filming as well as using a wheel radio, I don't know how you do it mate! Actually, the truck was pretty clean when i got home, I didn't need to wash it at all. Sounds like you had a great weekend, not doing too bad here my friend. All the best matey! :O)
