Introducing the Uni-Fi 2.0 line of home speakers. This new line builds upon the success of the first-generation Uni-Fi Family incorporating a variety of new features and technologies. Based on feedback from dealers and end-users, along with changes in the market, we have completely re-designed the entire line-up with newly developed drivers, waveguides, cabinets and networks resulting in a line that is easier to setup offers greater compatibility, and offers significant performance improvements.
Newly Developed 4” Concentric Driver:
Extended Range 1” Tweeter - A new wide-surround tweeter enhances the low and high frequency extension allowing for easier blending with the midrange driver for a more seamless sound.
Improved 4” Midrange - An entirely new design featuring a larger diameter voice coil, new aluminum cone profile, new low-profile surround for reduced diffraction and an all-new neodymium magnet assembly.
Single Piece Woofer: A new single piece dished aluminum cone woofer offers a smoother response and greater transparency.
Sophisticated 3-way Crossover: An enhanced design improves response linearity, improves driver integration and delivers a true 6-ohm nominal impedance for compatibility with virtually all AV receivers.
Front Firing Ports - Relocating the vents to the front on the bookshelf and center speakers allows for greater freedom of placement and closer placement to a rear wall.

Take my wallet. In all seriousness, I've both the original UF5's and UB52's and am quite pleased with their abilities to produce exceptional imaging without annoying, fatiguing top end. The detail is not these speakers' greatest trait, rather they're exceptionally clean and clear without ever sounding harsh or unnatural. The bass is remarkably tight and natural sounding. Well done, bud. I know you've moved on, but thanks for your thoughtful, quality contributions for the working class.

To paraphrase George C. Scott as Patton, “Jones, you magnificent bastard, I bought your speakers!” This is my third pair of ELACs in four months (Debut 2.0 F62 and B52, now UB52), and I think Andrew has truly outdone himself with this design. Sean Heisler’s comments capture the essence of these speakers, so no need for me to elaborate. As I have posted elsewhere, the UB52 is just stunningly true to the music. Congratulations and thanks to Mr. Jones!

Andrew Jones....... you are a speaker God! Hifi sound has been my hobby for over 20 years and I’ve bought and currently have many speakers but none compare to the tonal balance and spooky holographic imaging that all your speakers have. It’s an amazing gift you have, you have a buyer for life! THANK YOU 👍 p.s. out of all the money I’ve spent on Elac, and KEFspeakers; it’s my pioneer spfs 52’s that make me smile the most. What you did with very little money is just plan stunning! You revolutionized the industry with those unicorns!

Great speakers. I have Yamaha RX-V685 set at 6 Ohm. Voices sound natural, with proper placing when watching TV to the point that you can forget that sound is coming from the speakers. Base can go deep when it is necessary. Explosions have undistorted punch. Listening to music is pure pleasure. You can hear all instruments and they are not muddled into one sound blob. Highly recommended.

Utmost respect for your work Andrew Jones, you help all of us experience high-end at affordable prices. Your narration of the new UB5 2.0, is technically superb, it really shows that you know your stuff. But for the customers, the music listener, they cannot translate what you have said, to something they can audibly relate. So it would be imperative that you describe the sonic qualities of the speaker. As subjective as it is, it gives me, the fan, to have a sense of what it sounds like. Today, very little people audition speaker before they buy, I think you know. So your description would the words from "the horses mouth." So please describe the sonic qualities.

Just a heads up. The original UniFi series are on super-sale right now (or will be very soon.) in an obvious effort to sell off final stock, you can score big! The originals are just as wonderful as they always were and shoot way above their price point. The new UniFi speakers are probably pretty good too but at over double the price of today's series sell-off. It's like chocolate ice cream vs strawberry. Both very good. You will be floored by the origional series if you have good amplification. There is a reason audiophile speakers are built in a 4ohm configuration with ports on the back. And it's not to accommodate cheaper power and speaker placement. Set up correctly, and powered appropriately, the older series speakers deliver amazing performance that still give me goosebumps every time I listen to them. Don't feel bad about missing out on the newer series if you already have UB5's, UF5's, UC5's, or you are planning to buy them. They are still excellently balanced and wonderful speakers, and are now available at a literal steal!

We The north hey, man. Not sure if you saw my comments but you have got to put at least 24 hours play time on these before making any rash opinions. They sounded very polite and muted out of the box. That all changed noticeably around 24 hours and after driving them harder a couple times. By 40 hours they really start hitting their stride! I’m over 60 hours now and these speakers are a true joy! Absolutely stunning in every way.

One "oversight" on the center channel option? That center channel speaker looks awesome. I don't have one but was looking to buy one. I read some reviews and then it dawned on me. The center channel is more for clarity and not for bass. Why doesn't the center channel have a dual concentric 4" midrange (like where the woofers are) and only a single bass driver instead of exactly the opposite? Seems like that was an oversight in that design but perhaps a single mid-high is enough. Some reviewer said it was too bass present with the dual woofers. Maybe I will connect in series a book shelf pair for the center channel instead of the center unit option.

@yoyodyneartworks4867

The UB5 had magnetic grills, the UB52 use the same size grill as the Debut 2.0 DB52. The baffle of the UB52 is .2 inch taller and .2 inch wider than the DB52, so the grill still fits with an almost-imperceptible .1 inch gap around the edges. Moving the port to the front of the UB52 resulted in there not being room for an ELAC badge on the baffle. Using the same size grill and deleting the badge are some of the mundane cost-saving measures that enable the new & improved UB52 to be offered at only a $20 increase in MSRP over the UB5.

Don't agree on 3 vs 2 way. Even for a two way with greatly reduced cone area like the KEF LS50, I have literally never heard any modulation effects from it pulling bass duties. Nor have these effects been measured. Not in modern drivers with inductance mitigation strategies and modern suspensions.
@tomerikstokness276
@tomerikstokness276 3 жыл бұрын
Well.. Its even more critical with a concentric driver like the LS50.. The LF cone is part of the waveguide for the HF driver, and if the cone has lots of excursion, and moves, this will create modulation..

Impedance question. It seems counterintuitive that higher ohms are easier to power. So if I take (2) 4 or 6 ohm speakers and wire them in series to each channel they become 8 or 12 ohms respectively. Then that should make them easier to drive and yet there are more drivers to power which seems counterintuitive except that hooking them parallel give the opposite effect of 2 or 3 ohms. Is this correct or not correct? Seems that if I want to use more speakers without any adverse effects I could use the series method.
