ലോകത്തിലെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ വലിയ കരസേനയാണ് ഇന്ത്യൻ കരസേന. കരുത്ത് കൊണ്ടും , യുദ്ധമികവ് കൊണ്ടും, ആയുധ ശക്തി കൊണ്ടും ലോ ത്തിലെ ഏത് മുൻനിര സൈന്യത്തോടും കിടപിടിക്കുന്ന ഇന്ത്യയുടെ സേനാ വിഭാഗം. പക്ഷേ 2020-21 ലെ ഇന്ത്യ - ചൈന തർക്ക സമയത്താണ് ഇന്ത്യൻ കരസേന തങ്ങളുടെ വലിയ ഒരു ദൗർബല്യം തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞത്. ലോകത്തിലെ ആറാമത്തെ വലിയ കവചിത സേനയുള്ള ഇന്ത്യൻ കരസേന തങ്ങളുടെ കവചിതസേനാവിന്യാസത്തിലെ വലിയൊരു വിള്ളൽ തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞത് യുദ്ധം പടിവാതിൽക്കൽ എത്തിയപ്പോഴായിരുന്നു. 2020-21 ലെ ഇന്ത്യ - ചൈ ന തർക്ക സമയത്ത് മേഖലയിലേക്ക് ചൈന ധ്രുതഗതിയിൽ Type-15 ലൈറ്റ് ടാങ്കുകൾ വിന്യസിച്ചപ്പോൾ ഇന്ത്യ T90, T72 ട ങ്കുകളെയാണ് ആശ്രയിക്കേണ്ടതായിവന്നത്. കാരണം ഇന്ത്യക്ക് സ്വന്തമായി ലൈറ്റ് ടാങ്കുകൾ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു. ഈ ഒരു പോരായ്മ അന്ന് ലഡാക്കിലെ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ കവചിതസേനവിന്യസത്തെ കാര്യമായി തന്നെ ബാധിച്ചിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ കരസേനക്ക് വേണ്ടി ഒരു നൂതന ലൈറ്റ് ടാങ്ക് നിർമ്മിച്ച് കൊണ്ട് ഈ പ്രശ്നത്തിന് ഒരു പരിഹാരം കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുകയാണ് DRDO ഇപ്പോൾ. അതാണ് സെറോവർ ടാങ്ക്.
