Inveraray and District takes the 2022 Grade One British Championship Pipe Band Championship at Battery Park on Saturday 21 May 2022.
This was a medley competition and the tunes played by the band were:
Old woman's dance
I have it somewhere
Cafe René
Leaving Ireland
Willie Gray
The fiddler's joy
Broadford Bay, and
Dunrovin farm

It was great to be back at a full scale RSPBA championship competition again. Weather conditions were variable, and particularly poor during this performance - wet, blustery and poor light.
The band is led by Pipe Major Stuart Liddell and the Lead Drummer Steven McWhirter.
The competition was run by The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association in conjunction with Inverclyde Council as part of its Meliora Festival.

Piping not quite as strong as fmm for me but the ensemble and the composition is absolutely out of this world. Outstanding.👏🏽👏🏽

Nice to see some back sticking towards the end - breaking the traditional and conventional stigma that is expected.

A very listenable to medley . Slow air is beautifully delivered . Although the sound may not be up to norm , the overall band performance was excellent with the drumming excelling . It will be nice to hear on a good day .

Damn, that cutoff at the end was so sharp I think I nicked my finger! Outstanding performance! What I appreciate about I&D and FMM is they both use their tenor drums, whereas a lot of these other top bands have them there just to twirl sticks, which is just a waste.

Its a pity about the recording. It is poor. It would be nice for the Association to concentrate on the sound from all the majors for all of us who cannot attend the events. Thanks to all others who endeavour to bring the compitions to us. Great to see the bands out again. Thank You.

Owen never in my time have I seen or heard a bad recording from dronechorus.. top class as always. Probably the best recordings you will see apart from bbc at worlds . Ps this isn't an association recording

Dronechorus always has the most accurate and ewal recordings from the day. Bad day at the office for IDPB piping sound wise. For me, FM well ahead.
