Invest in Treasury Bills in Nigeria?! | Flo Finance

Treasury Bills is one of the money market investments. Money Market means you put in money and get back your capital + interest at the end of the term/tenure of the investment. Monet Market investments or instruments are usually short term in nature usually ranging between 3 months and 12 months (1 year). It's very easy to get your money back. Other examples of money market investments are fixed deposits, savings schemes etc.
In this video we will go through the basics of investing in Treasury Bills in Nigeria. Treasury Bills are great for when you have some money that you are waiting to invest in something for long term but instead of leaving the money lying idle in your bank, you can put it into a money market investment so you can be earning interest from it while you wait to accumulate more funds, enough to invest in the long term investment.

True. They stopped selling treasury bills to individual investors late last year. Not sure if that has changed now. I stopped investing in them when rates dropped as I wouldn't tie money down for a long time for a low interest rate. Investing in mutual funds is another.good one. Though return is lower than TB but much higher than bank savings account interest rates. The beauty is you have easy access to your money whenever you need it. Your money is not tied down with this.

The TB rates have dropped drastically. It went from 15% for a 365day tenor to about 3%. So u don't believe now is a good time to invest in treasury bills.

Any bank you have an account with in Nigeria, walk in and talk to your account officer or the customer service person about investing in Treasury Bills.
