@@_Truth-Seeker_ This is from the library of congress. :) “Before handling any collection item, thoroughly wash and dry hands. Contrary to widespread belief, gloves are not necessarily recommended to handle rare or valuable books." We're used to the idea of people wearing gloves but it's actually a bit outdated. Another reason I've heard for not wearing gloves is because you're less likely to tear fragile pages when using clean bare hands. Just thought that was interesting!

One critique of this video: for that Bible to be best preserved, if you ever have future opportunity to touch and turn pages of a historically valuable old book, please wear appropriate gloves and set the book in a V-shaped position so that the fragile binding is not laid out flat and worn faster by wider movements when turning its pages. I hope Brother Ashworth eventually donates it to the church History Library!

The Bible. Ezekiel is in the New testament. The book of Mormon is also incredibly shorter then this. All members of the church of Jesus Christ of later day saint study the old testament and the new testament heavily and believe it to be true as long as it is translated correctly. It was also while studying the Bible as a young teenager that Joseph Smith prayed to find the true church. That is the Bible they were hoping to find, not that this one is less significant.

Mormon scripture mentions the Stick of Ephraim. : “...to whom I have committed the keys of the ***RECORD*** of the stick of Ephraim;” --D&C 27:5 So the Book of Mormon is NOT the Stick of Ephraim according to this verse. It is the RECORD of the stick of Ephraim. The stick is Ephraim and those tribes that went with Ephraim at the time of the division. Likewise, the stick of Judah is Judah and the tribes that went with Judah. The Bible is the RECORD of the stick of Judah. The prophecy in Ezekiel 37:15-22 is talking about the unification of the tribes again. But when the tribes are united the sacred RECORDS they kept will also be united. So the unification of the Book of Mormon and the Bible is implicated in this prophecy just as Mormons have been saying.

I am Mormon and went to a mission down in the south of Mexico. Reading the Bible i have learned something different from what the church teaches. the scripture of Ezequiel is taken out of context. I think you should study the entire chapter of Ezekiel 37 Better. The chapter does not talk about two books or records. The chapter talks about two groups, two nations, who separated and who in the end would be reunited as the twelve tribes. I repeat, two nations, not two books. Ezekiel 37:16 refers to Judah and the entire house of Israel and not a single branch of Joseph. They are the two kingdoms into which the twelve tribes were divided. The tribe of Judah went to the south to Jerusalem and the tribe of Israel to the north. Joseph's descendants were supposedly lost to the north with Israel. They did not remain in Jerusalem. So, what is Lehi doing in Jerusalem if he is a descendant of Joseph? This story of Joseph's branch in Jerusalem makes no sense. Furthermore, Nephi never gave a genealogy of his father it only says that he was a descendant of Joseph. The Book of Mormon wants to teach that Lehi was a descendant of Joseph but that he was not with Joseph's lost tribes. According to the book of Mormon he was in Jerusalem with his family. All of the tribe of Judah remained in Jerusalem. Now, let’s pay more attention to the verses that talk about two nations and not two books. Verse 19 of Ezekiel 37 says very clearly that there are two nations and not two books. Example, “Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph that is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions, and I will put them with the stick of Judah, and I will make them one stick, and they will be one in my hand.” The two groups of people will be one as they were in the beginning. Twelve tribes Verse 21 another example that there are two nations divided and not two books. Example of verse 21, “Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the nations to which they went, and will gather them from everywhere, and will bring them into their land;” example of verse 22 that there are not two books it says like this, “and I will make them one nation in the land, in the mountains of Israel, and one king will be king over them all; and never again will they be two nations, nor will they ever again be divided into two kingdoms.” Verse 23 is even clearer that they are not two books. Example, “they will be my people, and I will be their God.” Verse 25 is even clearer that they are two peoples, example, “They will live in the land that I gave to my servant Jacob, in which your fathers lived; They and their children and their children's children will dwell therein forever;” verse 26, 27, 28 says 26 And I will make a covenant of peace with them, a perpetual covenant will be with them; and I will establish them and multiply them, and I will put my sanctuary among them forever. 27 My tabernacle will be in their midst, and I will be their God, and they will be my people. 28 And the nations will know that I, the Lord, sanctify Israel, my sanctuary being among them forever. It is the literal gathering of Israel and Judah into two separate kingdoms. Not two books. It’s all about the gathering of the twelve tribes and nothing else. Thank you for reading.

The first thing I open to in the Book of Mormon is a picture of Joseph Smith. Every time I see LDS it’s about Joseph Smith. He’s given more attention than any other person in the church. It’s sad. Plus the Book of Mormon doesn’t even teach Mormonism. If it’s supposed to be the fullness of the gospel, why do we not see plural, marriage, eternal marriage, Temple, rituals, baptisms for the dead, plurality of gods, exaltation? Why do we see more doctrines of the trinity, modalism, heaven and hell. It’s a maze.
@KadMac25
@KadMac25 3 ай бұрын
@@Sirach144 I believe you are referring to D&C 20:9 where the Lord states the Book of Mormon contains the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It doesn't mean that it contains every teaching or every doctrine ever revealed (plural marriage, eternal marriage, baptisms for the dead, etc.). Instead it means that in the Book of Mormon, you find those doctrines required for our salvation. To enter the Celestial Kingdom with God the Father, his Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost - you need faith, repentance, baptism, and the gift of the Holy Ghost. Eternal marriage is not required to simply enter the Celestial Kingdom. Now, if you want to gain the highest point in that kingdom (exaltation), than yes, it is needed. Plural marriage is not a requirement for that by the way. The Book of Mormon emphasizes those basic steps over and over again and clarifies that salvation doctrine. Joseph Smith is just a prophet, not someone we worship although he is greatly respected. I also appreciate and respect many of the other great prophets in the Old and New Testament as well.
@Sirach144

@@KadMac25 If it’s the fullness and it restores what was lost in the Bible then why didn’t it contain *ALL* of the teachings that were lost in the Bible?! if the Book of Mormon is supposed to be the most correct book on earth, then it should contain all of the missing things that were taken out of the Bible, shouldn’t it? If the Book of Mormon is completely in harmony with the Bible, then nothing was lost from the Bible because it would’ve been restored in the book of Mormon had it been taught by the early church, right? If the early church taught baptism for the dead and that it was removed from the Bible how come the Book of Mormon does not show baptisms for the dead? Shouldn’t have been practiced by the Nephites? And I do not believe that statement that you said that Joseph Smith was *just a prophet*. The amount of veneration of that man is so sad. Every room I went to in the LDS ward had a picture of him on the wall. Sad. We don’t honor any other prophets from the Bible that way. Also, plural marriage is completely condemned in the book of Mormon. But Joseph Smith practiced it anyway.
@KadMac25
@KadMac25 3 ай бұрын
@@Sirach144 Respectfully, I am not sure I see it the same way you did with some of your conclusions. The Book of Mormon contains the steps and doctrines needed for salvation to enter the Celestial Kingdom and return to God's presence. I don't see that as having to contain all the teachings for every aspect of doctrine. Just because the Book of Mormon is in harmony with the Bible doesn't mean, in my view, that nothing has been lost from the Bible. It just means that what the Book of Mormon provides is completely true and acts as another testament of Jesus Christ alongside the Bible. It also helps me understand, with simple clarity, what steps I need to take to return to God after this life. Another big piece it emphasizes is enduring to the end or staying true to the promises you make with God and obeying his commandments. In regards to baptisms for the dead - there isn't a set answer there. It may not be discussed because it is not relevant to the Book of Mormon's main purpose - to teach the fulness of the gospel which is faith, repentance, baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. Another reason is that it may not have been practiced before the atonement of Jesus Christ took place in 33 AD. Most of the Book of Mormon takes place before Jesus's arrival on earth. Either way, I don't share the same conclusion that it needs to have everything in it to be the most true book or for it to contain the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
