Shooter's father: "need to come up with new laws, guidelines" I think there are already guidelines in place around not being a shitty parent. The only thing more enraging than this man's blatant disregard for the very clear signs of an unhinged child when signing the consent form, is his abhorrent absolvement of any responsibility in essentially facilitating this mass murder. I believe he should share the charges in this case.

People are talking and they say the father and mother were horrible parents. No love, concern or even human touch. They did the basics of feeding and clothing and such, but there was no love. Father blocked mental help for the kid pulling him out of school, so there were no flags on that. Homeschooling was mostly just sitting in his room alone gaming and red pilling by the far right.

Never once did he express sadness, shock, distress, remorse, or any kind of emotion at all! All I heard was someone trying to deflect any kind of connection or responsibility, just washing his hands of it and putting the blame on authorities and the background checks???? There is a way deeper issue with this family than meets the eye, I'm thinking. Skeletons in closets eventually come out, I'm sure this family has more than a few. So tragic all around. As a former suicide crisis counselor, I know how powerful denial is in family and friends in the face of suicide ideation, and obviously of evidence of potential violence towards others. Compounded by the inability of law enforcement to act in the face of the percieved "rights" of people or just indifference. The parents of this man were obviously in total denial, and still are. That father made no mention of all the people who were killed or wounded by his son. He's a father of a young male adult, who is being charged with various serious crimes. Instead, of stepping back a bit, accepting his role of not being a good judge of decision making; he's trying to seek sympathy/empathy(wow is me/ I didn't see this coming). When clearly he and countless others saw 'the signs,' and failed to open their eyes and realize that their son/family member was un-well. Instead of trying to deflect from the real issue, avoid it and not try to help. Now mind you, some young adults resist, and we understand. But when they are a risk to themselves and others, it's about safety regardless to our connections. He could have counseled his son about getting some mental health services, and simply deny him. But I guess, he chose to co-sign for his troubled son's to be able to purchase a weapon resulting in the deaths of 7 innocent people, injuring many others and causing public traumatic carnage/mayeh. I'm a parent and from their childhood, I have told my kids: " I'm ok with your career path, you choose(janitor, teacher, etc), if you go to college or not I'm ok, but I'm NOT okay with you all growing up not being a decent human beings hurting others, then I'm part of the problem! And, where is one ounce of remorse for what happened, especially for those parents in their 30's who left their 2 year old toddler an orphan?
