@@JesusPerez-pe8vk I would describe it as Mark sees his dad as the perfect idol superhero. "I wanna do what you do. I wanna be just like you" was such a powerful statement a few episodes ago that returns in a big way later.

I think mark is more like his father than he would like to admit. I also think as he grows he will end up more like him.

I think they're all a result of their environment. Mark grew up loved, he has a great mother & friends, and even Nolan here was putting on a nice face. Nolan however grew up on this imperialistic eugenic driven warrior society where only strength counts. On Earth however he learned a completely different life, and, learned to like it - but it's very much conflicting with what he grew up with - and even struggling with the fact that his species would probably come after Earth regardless of his success or failure.

Either episode *on its own* would be fine. Her being mad at him here is fine. Her knowing he's a superhero and not wanting to date him b/c of it is fine. But combining the two is one of the worst writing decisions I've ever seen in a tv show. Her behavior in this episode is absolutely psychopathic if she knew he was the one who just saved them. It makes no sense.

@@teraxe the writers specifically used the eve character in the show to bring out how important and life changing telling someone your true identity is. mark didnt need to tell amber right away because that was his decision. he would tell her when she was ready.

Exactly. That should have been the first big red flag for Mark. Amber had far better options available to give Mark her number - she chose a blackmail "power play" on Todd. The writers gave Amber selfish uncaring behavior that increasingly shows sociopathic tendencies as the story develops. Adding to this - to have Amber gaslighting Mark could have made for a cool story with her as an antagonist. The writers really missed a huge opportunity here. For the writers to have the other characters treat Amber's sociopathic behavior as something positive is a terribly forced and inorganic narrative. It really weakens an otherwise well written show.

With that said, Sociopathic tendencies do allow for someone to justify blackmailing others. Between the blackmailing and her other behavior patterns, Amber is showing sociopathic tendencies. As for the "political correct" terminology, that is an issue with current communication. It is less descriptive and allows for confusion. There are other conditions besides "sociopath" that can be described as a form of antisocial personality disorder. When treating someone with a mental condition, you need to diagnose it accurately before possible treatment.

So she knew that was him that saved them, risked his life for them, would have died for them.....and she still tried to dump him b/c he "abandoned" her. Either thing on its own is fine and understandable, but put the two things together (she knows it's Mark *and* gets angry at him for leaving) and she's a psychopath.

She's a mary sue. And everybody hates her because of it.

@@jesusramirezromo2037 it's not your standard comic lawsuit ( tho the Jason horror movies law suit gives new precedent to writers so you may see stuff at marvel change big time, the ditko lawsuit will be a big test ) Here the colorist had an agreement with kirkman for part of all future profits, and claims he was tricked into giving it up by kirkman under the guise of making it easier to auction off to a studio with the understanding he'd still be paid... and for years he was for many things until Amazon. kirkman says the payment were bonuses that he chose to do but didn't have to. I'm not sure what if any proof he has, but if true and I was a judge I'd question why Crabtree signed saying he was "work-for-hire" in 2005 when the comic was made in 2003.

As much as Amber usually comes off as a mature character, the way she chose to handle her relationship with Mark was very questionable. And it isn't like there are a lot of standards on how to handle such things in her society. It's hard to discuss this topic in much detail without going into spoilers, and the next episode is... Well, it's a mess, with a lot of things to talk about.
