Titan wasn’t using him - the mission was just to help him take down Machine Head. I’m sure he expected some thugs to show up or something, but he did not expect that level of opposition. When the dust settles, though, he knew he had to duck out to keep his win intact. It wasn’t personal or manipulative. Nolan was wrong, and Titan’s new position will likely wind up being a big boon down the road.

@@alexperry2406 Titan told Invincible he wanted out of crime but Machine Head won't let him. Instead of leaving crime, Titan takes over as the new local Crime Lord. He had it all figured out and Isotope was in on it with him. That is called a lie for personal benefit - a.k.a. he used Mark.

Plus Nolan didn't want ANYTHING to do with Battle Beast.

Also the fight between Omniman and battlebeast would probably wipe out the city in collateral. Convincing Battlebeast that earth was full of weaklings was for the best.

@@alexperry2406 Titan was using him. If he had said "I'm gonna take over his operation, but don't worry, I'll be much more ethical about it" Mark wouldn't have helped him. Titan knew that, so he withheld that information. That's manipulation. I like Titan, but let's not lie to ourselves.

Oh, I figured out my boyfriend is a superhero, let's not tell him, freak out at him in public for "abandoning me" right after I saw him getting his ass kicked by undead cyborgs, lie to him by omission by not telling him I know he's a superhero and get mad at him for not telling me the biggest secret in his life after a 5-6 month relationship in high school when he hasn't even been a superhero for a full year yet.

I think its episode 7 that makes ep 6 in retrospect very very awful.

And also: I really like Rex as a character. (Also, fantastic voice actor. His "Harmonquest' episode was the best.) You're never really on his side but he is a 3-dimensional character with nuance, he isn't just a punching bag. Eve's dad, on the other hand... I feel like it wouldn't have been too hard to make him a character with a little more depth while still being a misogynistic asshole. Like... Rex was right to point out that there should be an age requirement for the new GotG, even though we don't necessarily want to hear it from him, right at that moment, since he *just* cheated on Eve. And because he was an asshole when saying it. (We later learn, the age requirement wouldn't necessarily apply to Monster Girl. But he still had a point.) Whereas Eve's dad... he definitely has a point in wanting his child to have somebody to watch her back. Again, as with the age requirement for the new GotG, it makes sense for a young or inexperienced hero to have a partner. (Invincible is both; despite being invincible - little "i" - he still could use help because simply being tough doesn't make you a particularly helpful hero. While Atom Eve is young; as far as we know, not particularly inexperienced, although we don't know the precise details of when she started hero-ing.) Particularly one who isn't durable like Invincible is (or Immortal, the twins, whatever). It just feels like they went so hard into making him a caricature, I think a lighter touch could've accomplished the same but in a less cartoonish way? I don't know, maybe I'm making too big a deal of it; he's introduced, he sucks, and we move on. But he seems like the only 2-dimensional character in the show. Titan is introduced as a villain but is then given depth; the geologist-powered villain at Mount Rushmore is given some personality beyond "he's evil" too... everybody else seems to have motivation except the dad, who is simply there to be the worst in every way. ALSO here is where we learn what Eve *says* her powers are. Until this point, I thought she just manipulated force fields. In interesting ways, for sure, like using their mass to move her through space in a way that was functionally "flying", but I thought it was just force fields. When she said she changed atoms, I thought... that seems weird, and way too OP. Like, WAY too OP. So I figured she was simplifying things for brevity's sake. We'll return to that next episode.

The fact that Titan didn't have much of a choice (which he did have a choice whethwr to become the nww crime lord or not) didn't make his actions really any better. He still used Mark, got him nearly killed, and then dipped to get out of it scott free.
