Many thanks for this guide! I managed to replace the battery on my toothbrush! Be careful though with the triangle key on the charger as it is very easy to strip it. After I messed up mine I unscrewed the base of the toothbrush by using a thin towel between the toothbrush and the charger and managed to open it and later assemble it together. Toothbrush is working like new now!

So great instructions!! Thanks a lot!! Most difficult part was to align the tags, back into the holes and bend them over to solder. I ve managed that, by using a pair of very thin tip twisers, pulling the solder tags from the front side of PCB holes!! ;) Thanks once more!!

Thank You. Mine had a 49mm battery, replacement was 42mm. I stretched the spring a bit to keep it snug, otherwise no problems.

Worked like a charm. Tough my battery had the connection strips centered I managed to bend it to fit the offset hole by folding it in a downword angle slightly sideways, and then up again.

If you have soldering skills to do this repair you can easily solder some wire to a normal AA battery and use that instead. Especially if you need a 49 mm battery an AA battery will fit well, if padded in width using kapton tape

Hello, I am having trouble getting the base off. I tried turning the handle anti-clockwise as instructed, but the screw just keeps going round and round. I know the screw is turning, because I can see it ends up in a different position. How many turns do I need before the base should become lose? I noticed on the side of the 2 pin plug there is a diagram for recycling indicating that the handle should be turned clockwise. Tried that as well and the screw just keeps on turning. Advice would be appreciated. Many thanks

The screw needs approximately 5 full turns anti-clockwise. It will start pushing the base cap off and after 5 turns the screw will have come off the end of its thread. If it is not pushing the cap off it is possible that the cap is stuck and threads have stripped and you will need to pry the cap off. Don't turn it clockwise - the diagram on the charger is wrong.

Hi, i have done as your video but the battery upon charging does not hold charge and goes back to not working? It charges as i can see that happening, but as soon as i take it off the charges, it does dead. Any ideas?

Hi, Hello, I have a problem with the Braun Oral-B Triumph 9000 toothbrush, Namely it worked all the time until one day it stopped working. So, according to your instructions, I dismantled this toothbrush and replaced the batteries. I put everything back together in the charger and the brush does not charge. What could have happened ? Is there any element that could break in these electric toothbrushes ?

If the brush has been dropped it can break solder connections or even crack the PCB. If there has been water ingress this can corrode components and PCB tracks.

How many mAh is the original factory battery rated for?

That depends on its physical dimensions: The 42mm long NiMH batteries vary between 1900mAh and 2150mAh. The 49mm long NiMH batteries vary between 2400mAh and 2700mAh. Older NiCad versions were only around 1100 to 1400mAh!

is there anyway to remove the battery without the charger oppening tool?

A Torx T-50 size bit should fit the triangular recess. These are sometimes found in mechanics' socket sets.

@@DavidNorwoodCCRE , Yes although there can be slight variation in size of Torx bits. You can also try using a piece of thin fabric between charger and toothbrush to stop them slipping if that is the issue.

If your original battery is 42mm long then you can fit a physically longer 49mm battery with a small modification to the brush. The 49mm batteries have higher electrical capacity.

1) Get your polarity right!! My original battery had a black marking facing up toward the motor but apparently the black (negative) should face down? Hmm.. details. We'll see if my toothbrush ever works again. A characteristic hot "your electronics are now a toaster!" smell suggests otherwise. 2) TEST this by soldering ONLY the bottom (whatever polarity, should be -) terminal and replacing the LCD. NOW use a screwdriver to make the circuit and watch for the LCD to blink. Mine did, AFTER I turned my toothbrush into a crude lightbulb. So don't do what I did and remember to check your polarity using your LCD by briefly making contact with the upper (+) terminal and if the LCD doesn't turn on then QUICKLY reverse polarity and try again. UPDATE: The motor runs! Whatever I turned into a toaster on the circuit board apparently didn't matter, so lucky me.

Glad to hear your toothbrush is up and running again. The positive battery terminal is always nearest the motor on the v1 Triumph brushes. Ignore the black ring on the old battery's sleeving - it does not refer to polarity.

Indeed, what a scam, and so bad for the environment! They just want to sell you a new one. If I don't replace the battery I'll buy a different brand.

Un diseño malísimo. No tendría por qué ser distinto de cambiar las pilas a cualquier aparato. Abrir un compartimento y reemplazar.

Display shows blinking Battery, but the Battery is Ok, 1,38V. Also a Battery replacement dont help, still shows blinking Battery. I suspect there is a kind of programmed obsolescence into the Firmware, which makes the Device unusable After some Time. Is BRAUN one of this Bad Greedy Compagnies ?👹
