You can have a somewhat similar feature using the focus mode. Create a new focus mode and add the apps only you want the other person to access. When you give your phone to someone just activate that New focus mode you created. That’s it !!! You wont even get notifications from apps that you excluded like social media and mails.

They make us pay an arm and leg for their devices ensuring software updates, and don’t get me started on how they boast about having the best chipset in any phone. My phone already feels outdated. I knew apple was going to try and pull this scumbag stuff when I seen how they never put in the extra battery health options in our phones talking about it can't support it but the iPhone 15 can? they tried this with stage manager on the iPad not to long ago too but they eventually back tracked on it

Because it has nothing to do with TFLOPS and has to do with RAM. Only devices with 8GB RAM have Apple Intelligence, because LLMs legitimately do require memory bandwidth.

Those were useless at the time, yet apple felt the need to sacrifice valuable SoC space for those NPUs. They must have knew. They wouldn't gamble like that. The reason all the non-pro iphones can't have the new AI features isn't a coincidence. It is planned obsolecence. They knew that 6GB isn't enough to run LLMs. In spite of this fact, that's the exact ammount of ram that the a base iphone is fitted with.

Iphone 15 and 15 plus users got short changed with no Apple Intelligence which is a travesty. I still think A16 chip is still powerful enough to handle Apple Intelligence. as for Iphone XS all the way to Iphone 14 pro Max users, its not kind a big deal without AI feature coz I’m happy even I’m Iphone 11 pro 512 gb user. as long as the cameras are good. can do the task such as surfing, scrolling Social media, I’m good. Apple Intelligence aahh? maybe later. I’m still fine with my Iphone 11 pro🙂

it is unfair, its an absolute lie the AI CAN support the 14p and the 15 just like stage manager worked just fine on non M1 iPads and the 20 other times apple tried pulling this crap. the issue here is for some reason this year you have many more COPE bots claiming "well u dont haz enough wam" gtfo going from 6-8 gb of ram isn't a make or break amount of ram and eventually the new Siri AI will be brought to the older devices by a 3rd party hack and well see once again that Siri AI indeed runs just fine on the A16

@@bigdiggle5036 When you are running a LLM on the phone locally...yeah, those two extra GB of RAM actually does make a big difference. Could they make it work on older phones? Maybe, but that's just how it is. Also, if their primary objective was to get as many people to upgrade as possible, why would they include the M1-M2? That's from 4 years ago, yet it's supported. I think it actually does have to do with RAM.

I just upgraded from an 8 to a 15 last year, and probably wont be upgrading again any time soon, and if I don't at least get the improved siri I'm going to be piiiissed. They should at least make it off-device processing for unsupported devices. Sure it might be a tad slower, but at least we're not all left out.

I think people are forgetting that the AI is for the next generation of phones, hence why I keep seeing mention of iPhone 14s. The new feature isn’t a 15 series feature it’s a 16 series feature. That’s like expecting features from the Pixel 8 line up to trickle to the Pixel 6 line up.

Their customers already hold onto phones for an average of 3-4 years, if they throw the latest and greatest on every device they support, then that average could rise to 4-5 years of customers holding on their phones. But dang! Sounds like you’re set for a few years! I only have the 15 Pro Max but I also have the OnePlus Open which I’m hoping to get some AI features. Always wanted to try a MacBook or Mac but building rigs just seems more appealing at the moment.

Pretty positive that the iPhone 12 and newer features are because of the 16-core Neural Engine where the 11's and XS/XR have the 8 core. I'm pretty positive the dual core Neural Engine in the iPhone 8/X was the reason we didn't get the new wallpaper effect in iOS 16.

I’ve been using the Developer Beta 1 for a week. It was good especially for a first beta… until now. For some reason my DND focus wallpaper was messed up. Tried to change it manually, didn’t work. I have a theory that later down the line they’re going to enable Apple intelligence on older devices, but they’re beta testing it on the latest pro iPhones so they could get the best performance results (which explains the “coming in BETA this fall”). I might be wrong though, just seems a little confusing since most of the intense processing is done in the cloud and technically the iPhone 13 Pro is about the same processing power as the M1.

The A17 Pro is the first chip to have the same chip design as the M Series Processors and 8GB Ram hence I doubt that on-device processing will trickle down. Cloud Compute must come down to atleast the 13 series though. (A15 Bionic 4 Core GPU)

Honestly, I’m not too concerned about not getting Apple Intelligence. I’ve been using iPhones without it for years now, so it won’t make much of a difference to me. I’m here for the customization features, the new control center, and lockable apps, and my iPhone SE 2nd Gen is getting all of them, so I’m happy with iOS 18 the way it is.

It is such a shame that Apple Intelligence isn’t even available for my Iphone 14 Pro. Like I really thought the A16 Bionic would have been strong enough to handle it. Luckily I have an Ipad Pro with M2 so I can test the AI features on there. And see if it is worth it to get a new phone or not because I can actually extend with a phone from my carrier

Plan obsolescence by not including the features in the older models so they can make it a desire to want to upgrade and make a ton of money

it IS strong enough, it has a dedicated neural engine. the M1 is based off of the a16 and even has more TOPS . apple is just pulling some scumbag stuff like they did with stage manager on the non M1 iPads. you got the very first Dynamic Island though so you should just accept that and move on bud

Thanks for covering these features it was very helpful! The new battery health settings and charge cycle count should be in ALL phone on iOS 18 no need for any upgraded chip set. Come on Apple seriously 😳

Electricity usage has been in use here in Denmark for several years and there are big savings collecting it. An app associated with the electricity company is downloaded. If you have an electric car, the electricity calculator for the next day/night will be able to show which time it is cheapest to charge the car!

Hi Aaron, as an iPhone user from 4s onward, it seems to be pretty average update without addition of AI. Non availability of AI on iPhone 15 (plus) are big let down and even some of the regular important features are missing. Like: 1. Dual Sim Active Standby - DSA (very important) 2. Dual profile (so that user can have two profiles, office and home) 3. Notification customization (app based important and other notification toggle) 4. No AI in current version of iPhone (15) is a big let down as this was not expected by Apple. This gives impression that Apple never gave their users good hardware. May be that's the reason for past 4-5 years we were getting average iOS updates ( here and there updates 🤐) Going by the iOS updates it seems this might be my last iOS device.

iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and even macOS Sequoia are better upgrades than what WWDC23 showed, but there is one big problem...why didn't Apple add Apple Intelligence to EVERYTHING? I agree with Aaron @ 6:35, you would think they would at least add it to the 15...Apple is stupid sometimes. I think what Apple needs to do is give the Apple Intelligence redesign to Siri and that's it. If even the older iPhones can support something as complicated as StandBy, at least do this.

0:21 Apple originally made Stage Manager EXCLUSIVELY for iPads with M1 and later. People complained, and later Apple made Stage Manager work with iPads with A12X/Z. Why can’t they do the same with Apple Intelligence? Give it to, at least, iPhone 12 or 13.

For Deaf/Hard of Hearing users of Live Captions Apple has not yet made Live Captions in-app for Phone available like they have for FaceTime. I was hoping iOS 18 will allow that.
