The iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max were announce recently. There are some serious upgrades with the camera system. Specifically the triple camera setup on the back of the iPhone 11 Pro. Apple talked a lot about pro photographers using the phone and hinted more about it being a professional camera. I just happen to be a professional photographer. Here are my thoughts.

What are your thoughts about the iPhone 11's new triple camera setup?

I have the iPhone XS Max and my initial thought about the new iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max was in line with most other people, that its a really disappointing upgrade year. However, the more and more I've watched videos about it and read about it, the more I can't wait to place my pre-order and get my hands on those cameras. I'm I suppose what you could consider a very, 'amateur-photographer, or someone who takes nearly every picture and video on their phone, and for me camera quality is a really key feature that I want to have available to me where ever I go. I love having the luxury of taking my phone out and being able to capture any moment with a high quality photo. Granted like you said it's not quite on par with the thousand dollar professional photography cameras, it certainly comes close to the features in some areas I think. Side note: Great video, very informative, very professional, keep up the great work!

@@NexusTechRepair thanks for the comment! I was the exact same way before I became a professional photographer. Pretty much every image/video was taken with my phone. It's just so much easier than lugging around a larger camera haha (even a crop sensor). How was getting used to Face ID? That's really the only thing I may see not liking. And thanks for the compliments!

Nexus i have the iphone XS too but i dont think people appreciate the works put into the iphone 11 final product. Its true they did not introduce anything new which is entirely unique to iphones, but I appreciate they take the time to develop, test, and refine their “innovations” rather than just throwing it out there for the sake of having it first. Innovation doesn’t necessarily means new product, but also the process they developed to create the product. Therefore i am confident when Apple introduces new features on their iPhones, i know its matured enough and will perform among the best if not the best, just like when they introduced smart HDR, it outperformed Google Pixels. The deep fusion and the night mode, no doubt it will perform great. For me, I appreciate iphones on their overall quality product. Not for their “immature innovation” that some companies just throw out there to have it first.

The greatest thing about the iCamera (that takes phone calls) is availability. It’s almost as big as being able to SEE and RESHOOT immediately... for those who started with film - who bought a cheap camera loaded with A400 to get the shots you would miss but having your camera out and lens ready.... always carried TWO when I was traveling and I’d say a quarter of my final shots were caught with those pocket cameras!

Hi Mike good to see you making a video about a phone! Did I hear you correctly at the beginning you saying that the wider the aperture the more depth of field you get?
@MiketheMathMan
@MiketheMathMan 4 жыл бұрын
That's correct. What I meant by that was, the wider the aperture, the more noticeable the blurring is when something is out of focus. "Depth of field" is a phrase I've heard used to describe a few things. I threw that example photo in there to help visualize what exactly I was trying to say haha

As for the fusion thing I didn't see the keynote, but how would that work? If the phone was to take 8 photos before the shutter button is pressed would that mean that it is always taking pictures? Also that would only work if the phone was still all the time so that the AI could then stick them all together? You made my curiosity level spike.

Haha dude my curiosity level spiked too; I really don't know. Apple only talked about it for a minute or so, so there's really not much info out there about it. But seems like a pretty legit feature if it works as they say it will

Okay so basically how this works is as soon as your camera app is opened, your phone is taking frames from the camera before you click the shutter button. This works kinda the same way smart hdr and Live Photo’s work. Then the phone automatically renders these images into one perfect photo. So to answer your question. Unless your camera app is open, no this will not be taking photos in the background. The phone will not have to be still for the AI to stick them together because everything is again nearly instantaneous. It chooses between those 8 frames to pick the best ones, giving you the most detailed shot possible.

@@dominiccartner8534 thank you mate for the explanation but I'm still to see that working and also then the results. Let's say it works like you suggest.... I take the phone from my pocket and start the camera app. This starts taking pictures but in the meantime I'm moving the camera all around to find a subject for my shot. Whilst panning it is shutting and none of the pictures is even close to the others before as the camera is moving. Whilst still moving for a fraction of a second I identified my subject and hit the shutter button. Do you see my point? All pictures before I hit the button were not usable as these would have all been different from the moment I hit that button. That's why I have my doubts about this system. Of course if I have the phone sitting still like Mike does for most of his shots then I can understand this being of benefit but face it this is a phone and I don't believe most users will put it on a tripod;-). I hope I'm wrong and this is a way more cleverer system than I'm imagining.
