Man, going back to the 12 series, especially the 12 Pro Max drop test, it’s crazy how Apple threw away the formula for a resilient phone. The 12 Pro Max will be goated for that for a long time.

Titanium may be stronger and harder than aluminium but that also means more of the impact will be transferred to the rest of the phone, whereas aluminium would just deform and absorb a lot of the impact.

I love how the harder titanium frame is seen as protecting the phone more. When really a harder frame is just going to allow more of the shock vibration to go through the phone to the glass, making it more likely to crack. I would much rather a more pliable frame that scuffs but has less glass cracking

Anytime Corning (makers of Gorilla glass and ceramic shield) improved the formula, phone makes decide to make them thinner and thinner. Or basically make them 90% glass as it's the case with all flagship phones since the iPhone 4. I would rather want the back to be metal or plastic but it doesn't look or feel "premium" even though 90% of people stick a case on their phone. While on a laptop it's usually protected by metal or plastic.

Nothing they can do without changing the design. See JerryRig how the iPhone 15 Pro Max cracks quite heavily when slightly pushed in the middle from the back side. The problem is, this new titanium frame is actually stronger and less flexible, but the awful thing apple did this year is that they removed the aluminum backplate behind the back glass that was like a wall behind it to handle more pressure, they putted that on the phone frame itself not the glass (that’s also why replacement got significantly cheaper) so combining all of that make it much harder for that glass handle pressure like before, the old design and stainless steel proved to be objectively better so hope they go back to that again.

I mean, yes, not every phone can survive every drop. It may depend on the angle or where exactly it hits the place but 15 pro max clearly shatters and loses pieces of glass from its rear glass and you are very likely to end up with a phone with missing glass pieces in the rear, which is not the case with 14 pro max. Apple must take into account user feedback and do something about this. In countries like Turkey where iPhone is really really expensive, it is a complete turn off. iPhone 15 pro Max's base model, for example, costs as much as 8 months of my rent here.

The 15 Pro will be put in the same category as the 6/6 plus: bad structural decisions lead to poor durability. Too bad, I was going to buy the Pro after seeing the launch
@danialadam.
@danialadam. 8 ай бұрын
Depends on your use. My 6 Plus held well with just minor dents on the edges even if it wasn’t occasionally dropped. Besides, what’s the point of not being careful after spending so much on a phone. The 15 Pro Max have the best battery life of any iPhone plus the processing power is also no joke. Useless opinion but it’s an opinion so it doesn’t really matter.

@@danialadam. three things: everythingapplepro’s drop test shattered the 15 pro’s glass as well as the max’s from waist height, a pathetic result no matter how you look at it. Also, the 15 Plus appears to have a longer battery life than the Pro Max from Mrwhosetheboss’s testing, likely the result of a less power hungry chip. Also, Samsung S23 can go toe to toe with the 15 Pro…without overheating. I’m sure if you’re careful with the 15 pro you’ll be fine but I’m going to get the 15 Plus or 14 Pro Max for durability reasons.

@child_of_Orion 7 ай бұрын
Round two was scored unfair: the Samsung hit the floor with the same edge where the back glass cracked in round 1, yet the glass didn't suffer any additional damage, unlike the iPhone. So it is not a tie, but 10:9 for Samsung who performs better overall even with a curved display. So the end result is 39:36 at least.

Titanium is actually pretty soft compared to steel, it's just lighter that's all. If you want strength and toughness, steel it is!!
@chrissolace
@chrissolace 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, looked it up after this vid and steel basically is more bend and scratch resistant… titanium is just lighter with a better strength to weight ratio. I think if you have it in a case, titanium MAY do better, since it’s less weight (so everything is less likely to break) but bare… steel is just plain better. Edit: I think titanium is mainly used in airplanes, which make sense in terms of being lighter and able to lift off the ground while retaining a certain level of strength. I think in smartphones… while lighter is nice… think steel just might be best.
