EPISODE 8
In this riding video of the motorcycle tour around the world we ride from the Armenian border with Iran to the Iranian border with Turkmenistan near Mashhad. We start in in the mountains of north west Iran and soon arrive at the Caspian sea. In Tehran I start taking care of all the visas for central Asian and meanwhile ride down to the Persian Gulf past Isfahan, Shiraz and Persepolis (old Persian empire capital). In Bandar Abbas on the coast I take a boat to the Island of Hormuz to check out an old Portuguese fortress. Hot, hot, hot! After ride back to Tehran and sort out the final visas for Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. All set and good to head east through the awesome Kavir desert. In Mashhad fabricate a tool tube for the tools and before you know it a month has past and we're ready for Turkmenistan.
Enjoy this short motorcycle documentary of Iran and the Persian region. Put together with the video bits that I recorded back in 2014.

My name is Pedro Mota and back in 2014 I left the Netherlands on a beautiful Honda Transalp dualsport motorcycle on a trip to the east end of Russia in Vladivostok. On the way there we would take a big detour through the Middle East, Central Asia and Mongolia. Little did I know back then that this would evolve into a years long motorcycle travel further taking me through Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the American continent.

I noticed something familiar on all those blue little trucks/pickups on the roads, it turns out that Saipa has been making copies of the old Nissan Junior truck, of course under license as the Saipa Z24. Never saw that coming, but it seems like almost every nation has their own special, locally produced car. I'm gonna do trips like this as well, but I'm thinking of throwing in something extra as well. Nice video!

Sounds like a good plan mate! Also starting out in Russia will give you plenty of time to enjoy the eastern side of it. Make sure you get a multi entry business visa which should give you at least half a year and you can go to mongolia. Also worth researching offroad roads in Iran before you go. Find out if the region they go through is free of military bases and whatnot. I was a bit paranoid about that so I barely went offroad.

To me, Pedro is one of a kind and the best part of his videos is that while we all watch him grow and learn, we're actually growing and learning too along with him! In the end, I dare to say that it's not just about the ride and the adventure. It's the wisdom that comes with it, something a bit more deep, engraved in our souls. Cheers!

Hello Pedro-hich. I really enjoy your video. I'd like to go to Iran and I've told that big cylinder bike are not allowed overthere. So I wanted to know how you finally end up crossing this country without problems. Did you have to fill up some special papers to be able to ride there? Thanks

@@iPedroMota ok Thanks for your response. Overthere the law says that people are able to ride bikes under 250cc and for bigger bike only during one day of the week. So I hope the carnet will break this rule for tourists.

Did you carnet de passage for Iran? What type of visa you got for Turkmenistan? A transit one?
@iPedroMota
@iPedroMota 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, carnet for Iran. Turkmen visa was a transit one. 5 Days, if you're unlucky you might get less. I think only tour groups can get the tourist visa. That was in 2014 so I'm not sure how things are now. You also need to get the visa of the entry and the exit country first before you can apply.

It's been a while but I remember you had to for one of the Stans, that's why I took a little detour down south while waiting for it. Might have been Uzbekistan but there are different online services who can arrange that for you. Quick search should give you results. Also by now it's 2020 so thinks might have changed, worth looking up.

Ah, nevermind, just watched the Valparaiso Videos. Much more entertaining. Thats what I was talking about. Keep it up ! :)
@iPedroMota
@iPedroMota 6 жыл бұрын
Cheers! I've considered it, especially pics, because at times they are certainly complementary. Though with these vids I'm opting for pace and let the scenery tell the story. In Japan I start to record a lot more and in Australia I talk a lot more consciously about what is going on. Once in New Zealand audio improves and I'm a lot more aware about how a recording will add to a video. Though I've been thinking a lot about a type of video for in the very near future and would like opinions on that. I'll sit down and talk/narrate about specific experiences. how I felt, what happen, who did what, how was a country etc. and use video and pictures to elaborate. Something I can't do now because videos would become too long. That way I can tell the stories of this journey, like a narrated picture book basically. What you think?
@highjeeemel
@highjeeemel 6 жыл бұрын
No, I think just focus on narrating while the footage is made (like in the Valparaiso Vids) is perfect. Also interacting with other people is good. Narrating to Pictures only if the story is super awesome and you couldn´t catch it on video. Just my opinion. Maybe a 1Min day recap in the evening or sth could be an idea too.
@iPedroMota
@iPedroMota 6 жыл бұрын
Fair enough. New Zealand and onward the footage is a lot more like that. Also ten times more recordings so it will be interesting to see what I can cook up with that. Cheers for the input!
