In this video we take a brand new "Gen 3" Sig P365 to the range for a 500 round first look. There have been several issues that surfaced early on with this particular handgun which consumers took note of and Sig hopefully rectified in these newer production handguns. Stay tuned, we will revisit the P365 with another 500 rounds of various 9mm ball and carry loads and see if the little gun can make it to 1000 rounds without failure and report back. Much more on the way.

Well we are 6 months later June 2019. My 365 is dated Feb 2019-5000+ rounds through it. No problems. Sweet shooter, accurate. No spring scratch on magazine problem, no striker issues, no FTEs, no cycling problems. Striker drag is common on most mini/micro/compacts. Shield included. Love this piece.

I appreciate the fact that eric & chad kept the footage of the "user error " in there. It's good to see nothing hidden and also the potential of "adjusting grip/hold" is something to consider in different guns. Great content! Keep em coming boys!

I have a gen 3 carried it every day have way over 1200 rounds initially when I first got it it would occasionally not hold back on the last round I contacted sig and they asked me what ammunition I was using I told them 115 grain they told me that the 365 was actually meant for 124 grain but it will operate with 115 grain ever since then I use nothing but 124 grain absolutely no problems. As for Tim's broken striker I had absolutely no problem with that but for my own peace of mind I purchased a stainless steel machined striker for only $100 I cannot recommend the P365 enough I carry it with a 12 round magazine absolutely love it . I have no problem recommending the P365 in fact I stake my life on it every day.

My 365 runs perfectly. I tried other 9MM compacts in this category before I bought mine and the Sig P365 felt best in my hands, shot best, no failures of any kind, and most accurate because of the awesome sights. It also conceals better in my opinion even with just shorts and a t-shirt. I have friends who love their S&W M&P Shields but this will always be my everyday CCW. Excellent video!

Being primarily an 1911 guy I am completely unbiased here. I own many firearms from different manufacturers and my 2nd gen Sig p365 is the probably the best deep concealment pistol to me so far. Many, many rounds ( I don't usually count) and not one malfunction. Unlike some I use different tools for different applications.

I love 1911's for range plinking. Love them. Beautiful and generally reliable guns. Tried and true. I've owned several 1911's, the only one I have currently is a Springfield a1 milspec, that I gutted and rebuilt with Wilson combat interals. Tungsten hammer, full length tungsten guide rod, tungsten sear, new springs, polished her up a bit, and so on. It's a fantastic gun. I have never carried it. Doesn't make much sense to me to carry a gun that hold 7+1, that's heavier, and uses a hammer with an incredibly sensitive trigger. I know it has a safety and blah blah but I don't carry guns with a safety on. Ever. My carry is a sig p320. I love it. It's a very reliable and accurate pistol. It feels great in my hands. 17+1. One of the few pistols that I can comfortably and accurately shoot with either hand. I understand that doesn't matter to most people but it does to me. I like mixing it up and practicing with each hand.

A few things: 1. Primer drag is a non issue, in fact it is fairly common on micro compact guns. Its caused by the insanely fast barrel lockup on the 365. 2. The trigger return spring has been updated so regardless if it rubs the mags, it will be fine. Shaving the spring didn't help the situation, in fact it could of made it worst. 3. The striker has been redesigned to be more stout. It wont break despite the primer drag. It was designed to be able to withstand the drag, and its proving to be much better. 4. Overall, the 365 is phenomenal gun. Sig did a great job addressing those early production hiccups early.

No peening, no malformation of the firing pin, no magazine scratching, or issues with the trigger return... I carry a p938(have for years) and I love it; but next year I plan on purchasing one of these as a second carry option for myself (i honestly thought I'd end up with this one; but she actually, genuinely loves and carries the thing)... I get it may not be enough to definitively say it's "battle proven"; but my experience is, in the real world, people, even you Im sure, don't run 700rnds through their carry gun. @@Silidons91 I'm with you on this one.. if I really like a pistol; I might do more than 700 rounds the FIRST time I take to the range. When I go to train or shoot for fun, it's an all day thing and can go anywhere from 500-1000 rounds combined on the lower end. I normally don't shoot less than 350 FMJ 124g 9mm rounds, 150 rounds of HST 147g +p 9mm(carry and HD guns only), 50-100 rounds of .380 for my pocket gun, 250 5.56 rounds for my HD rifle; that's weekly/bi-weekly(I get antsy if I miss a week and still take my carry pistol indoors for 250 rounds if I get a couple hours) 120 birdshot, 50 buckshot, 25-30 slugs in my HD shotgun when outdoors, slugs only indoors. I may skip the shotgun and only take it monthly if inconvenient. Any less than this, and I feel a small decline in my performance...I'd assume the same with other people whether they realize it or not. I'll forego luxuries before I forego practice time, dry firing is NOT enough: buy cheap Tula/Wolf and clean more frequently(after every trip) if it means being able to still shoot. And just because it ran and you kept it on paper in CONTROLLED CONDITIONS doesn't mean it will when everything is fucked and you can't control your body functions 100% Trust that we give you shit because we care, my friend.

The back end of the chamber had a more generous chamfer to it and was polished up. I was having FTB at least once a mag straight out of the box. Cleaned and lubricated. I didn't even have to take my offhand out of my pocket to count the FTB in 120ish rounds after getting SIG's preservative off it, but that is still too many. After it came back from SIG, 300 rounds of Blazer brass - 0 failures.

@mohawk3371
@mohawk3371 5 жыл бұрын
@@Banshee365 it may be true that riding the slide is contributing to the malfunctions. However, not every pistol react the same way to the same level of pressure being applied to the slide. How much slide pressure is required to cause a malfunction depends on the slide velocity, the recoil spring, and excessive internal friction due to tight tolerances, or something obstructing the movement of the slide. From the number of people experiencing these types of malfunctions with this pistol, it seems to me that it is much more sensitive ti pressure being applied to the slide, then other pistols of that size. I have quite a few pistols, including several small subcompact and even pocket pistols, and I tend have a high grip, and ride the slide a little bit on all of them, yet never experienced these types of malfunctions.

mo hawk: I have over 1,800 rds through my P365 & I’ve had ZERO malfunctions. Every shooter is different as this video proves. Two of the 3 shooters had no problems whatsoever. When shooting these small subcompact pistols I think a modified grip is best. Thumb placement is key to running them smoothly. Obviously the 3rd shooter was doing something different in the video & he even admitted he was riding the slide lock in the video. The P365 has gotten a bad rap but not all the issues are gun related. This video proves my point.
@mohawk3371
@mohawk3371 5 жыл бұрын
@@glockoholics7512 when you have that high percentage of pistols on the market having failures, and that high percentage of people that have a problem with this pistol, it is not likely that it's just the habits of the shooter that's the problem. As I said it's quite possible that pressure on the slide is contributing to the malfunctions, but given the number of people having these types of issues with the p365 it seems evident that it is more sensitive to that sort of thing than other pistols and its class. Every gun is physically different and I'm glad your example works well for you, but there's clearly an issue with either the design, or Sig's manufacturing process for this pistol.

I just bought one at the end of July 2020 and had a chance to shoot it this past weekend. I love it, and it shot great. Had 2 boxes of ammo, so I only put 100 rounds thru it but was pleased to see that mine has no primer drag what so ever. It's fun on the range, I have a 15 round clip besides the 2 10s that came with it...they empty quick.

Thanks for the review guys. I’ve had my P365 for 7-months. It’s my daily carry weapon and I hit the range every other week. I have the same striker drag, but I’ve never had the slide fail to lock back. I absolutely love this pistol. Even w/ the 12-round mag it’s still very concealable. I did buy a titanium backup firing pin, but have not had to change out yet. BTW - Matt’s hand seemed high to me.

Interesting. I'm not a hater or fanboy of any firearm manufacturer. I have a P365 and have better than a 1000 rounds through mine. NO PROBLEMS. In fact. I left my P365 in the rod locker of my bass boat during July Alabama heat and humidity by accident for about 2 weeks. The damn thing did have rust on the front and rear sights. And had about 300 rounds through it without a cleaning. Shot about a 100 rounds through for kicks and didn't have a single problem. Yeah. afterward I showed it the love and gave it a full spa day and it looks as good as new. Perhaps I got the golden nugget of the bunch and got lucky. But I refuse to be a hater. I respect the research and development process. What I find very interesting is that US Army is investing mega millions in the P320 (M17) and several countries around the world have placed great faith in the Sig product line. And yep the 320 had some issues as well. And truthfully, I think it was a bad idea for the US Army to reject the M9A3 that would have been a much easier transition for the armories and soldiers over the M17. And that is not a rip on Sig or Beretta. Perhaps, just perhaps Sig did not fully vet the firearm before marketing. But the M16 had a boat load of problems in Viet Nam. But not too many people 50yrs later would say the AR platform was a failure. And Sig has lost and spent a boat load of money honestly trying to rectify the problems. Instead of being haters, be developers. The world would work better that way.

Good point on the M16.. gives some perspective for sure. It is interesting though that a major brand such as Sig would have so many little issues with a new pistol. I guess that is the result of pushing the envelope with what's possible in a subcompact.

You are the first reviewer to be somewhat critical of the trigger! I completely agree with your comment about "sponginess", but at least it's consistent and you can train around that. I have also experienced the problem of the slide not locking back, and I know it's because of my grip . . . I attribute this problem to the fact that it's so much smaller than my other pistols. The P365 requires a commitment to train with it. GREAT VIDEO!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing your follow-up videos on this gun.

I have 2500 plus hundred rounds through my 365 without a single issue firing every round. Mine is a second gen and was purchased in May of 2018! My front sight broke off while firing at around 2000 rounds or so. I called Sig and they sent me another one out and I received it just a few days later and have continued with zero issue. I love the gun. FYI- I think it is important to understand the uniqueness of the magazine capacity in relation to its size. Yes it is a double stack however, it is much thinner than a any other double stack made. It’s just a slightly thicker than a glock 43 single stack mag. My glock 42 mag with the SI extension on it giving it two extra rounds for a total of 8 in the mag is taller than the 365 mag holding 12 rounds. My point is that the Sig365 holds way more rounds than the glock 42,43 or even the 26 and it is smaller than all of them! As for recoil, in my opinion, it is less snappy than the G43. It’s less angry of a snap and very very manageable. I promise this to be true! I carry it with the Sig 115grain defense ammo and practice with a variety of 115grain ball ammo and it shoots super great. Interesting idea on the porting though and I think I will try doing that to mine! Did I tell you that this gun is smaller than my Glock42 and holds 12+1 rounds! Pretty fantastical! HA! Biggest negative in my view is Sig’s lack of addressing the issues with the first gen of the P365 publicly! They should have made a solid KZfaq video talking about it openly and telling everyone what they were going to do to make the situation right and then kept us up to date as they solved it. That to me would have been superb integrity. Other than that, Sig makes sole of the best firearms out there. 👍🏼

I disagree. I watched over and over and the kid's wrists were locked solid. If anything, it was just as they said, riding the slide release lever. That can happen to anybody because of our different physiology. That's why we have so many guns to choose from. None of them work for everybody. Heck, I think it would be a great idea to bring him more often on all new gun shoots! We don't need every gun review done by old bastards like us that have already been shooting for 30 or 40 years.

My P 365 has 3000 rounds thru it flawlessly! It has primer swipe which is not an issue with a properly manufactured striker. In 3000 rounds I had 2 shooter errors Thumb Riding Slide stop which I knew I did. What is noteable is my pistol had X Ray sights and barrel and slide mill work done in March before the internet reported all the issues and fixes. It cannot be overstated, you have to put rounds through your guns before you trust them. If I had a nickel for every time I saw a guy at the range shoot his SD gun for the 2nd time in 2 years and have malfunctions... Failure to feed, failure to eject/stove pipes, magazine issues, improper ejection (brass to the face), last round hold open, jamming, etc...
